Is anyone out there familar with obtaining an unrestricted permit in Cattaraugus county, NY? If I put personal protection as a reason am I, metaphorically speaking, shooting myself in the foot?

You shouldn't be.... I'm from Monroe county and didn't have a problem.

Just wanted to update anyone who is interested. Cattaraugus County now has electronic finger printing which speeds the permit process. I recieved my permit within 6 weeks of completing the permit process. Not too bad considering it used to take 6-9 months.
