I am thinking about some doing some "upgrades" to my 19, primarily night sights and metal recoil rod. I really like the factory nights(MH3) on my 21. Does anyone have any advice on these additions?

Buy more mags and ammo and take some quality training. You'll love the G19! FourtyFive 01-04-2007, 22:14 check out the sevigny carry sights, they are excellent. IMHerDad 01-04-2007, 23:25 looked over the Truglo night sites and they are too sweet. To chime in and reiterate what others have said here I would say get whatever high quality sights you want and leave the rest of the gun stock. Buy lots of extra mags and ammo and some of the $6 stock recoil spring assemblies for spares and you're set. bunchok 01-05-2007, 17:47 I added night sights and a smooth trigger to my G-19. I hated the grooved trigger. Rob96 01-09-2007, 04:11 All you need to do is buy more mags, get some decent sights and a lot of ammo to practice with. jpshaw 01-10-2007, 08:36 I added night sights and a smooth trigger to my G-19. I hated the grooved trigger. Ditto on the smooth trigger. Thats the way Gaston wanted the gun in the first place. The Serrated one on the compacts and mini's is just to add importation points on a smaller gun. RM 01-10-2007, 08:39 I have a gen 2 19, that is my toy gun Glock, I am always adding a taking things away from it. It is just fun to do the low level smithing. Since it stays in my safe other than going to the range, I think it is great way to try things out. jj45fan 01-14-2007, 15:21 Originally posted by IMHerDad looked over the Truglo night sites and they are too sweet. Truglo came on my g19 when I got it, I thought they would be great but after a little shooting they fell apart. Took the gun to a local smith who said he had replaced a few of those on law enforcment guns, he recomended Heini & I am very happy with them. Not doubting you but just curious as to why a serrated vs. smooth trigger would matter in terms of importation? :headscratch: jpshaw 01-15-2007, 08:45 KONY - Doesn't make sense at all but the thought was that a serrated trigger that they could call a "target" trigger would make the gun appear less concealable. Non US arms Co.s were doing everything to get around the 1968 small pistol bans. The first G26s actually had adjustable sights on them. jv56 01-15-2007, 16:20 Not much in to upgrading glocks as it is about as good as it gets, but I too added smooth trigger, extended slide stop and trij. nite sites. DHart 05-14-2007, 20:01 I like night sights and also, a lighter trigger pull, the 3.5# connector will bring your 8-ish lb. pull down to around 5# or a hair under... that's a change I like as I'm accustomed to the 3.75" trigger weight on most of my 1911's. And a steel guide rod isn't a bad idea if you want to shoot hot loads, you can tailor the recoil spring weights. I agree on going with the smooth trigger... between the stock serrations and that irritating center of the trigger shoe lever safety thingy, the feel of a Glock trigger shoe is about as bad as can be. So the smooth shoe helps that feel just a little. None of these changes are necessary by any means, but I like the little enhancements they provide. SchlaffTablett 05-15-2007, 01:42 I do the exact same mods to all of my Glocks. The only exception to this is that I bought a smooth trigger for my 19 that I haven't actually installed yet. Honestly, with 4-5k down the pipe so far, I don't know if I'll ever get around to it either. The standard ones are: 1. Meprolight sights 2. Butt plug 3. Extended (factory) slide release IMO, you shouldn't screw with the mechanics unless it's strictly a range gun. Glocks really don't need it unless you're competing, and I'd sooner save potential headaches if I had to go to court. --ST vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
