View Full Version : 1187 Police Tac
Hey guys I have a Rem 11-87 police tac. The question I have concerns jaming and not releasing the spent shell. This gun shoots slugs fine. When it comes to bird shot I have problems. Could te gas system be dirty. I would just like some advice, it's my first auto gun.
Matt
bird shot probably does not have enough umph to cycle the system. tacticals have stronger springs and such.

Normal. Low-base bird shot, various training loads, and most of the "tactical" or "reduced recoil" loads don't generate sufficient energy to consistently cycle the action. Those that do, usually do so at the functional threshold of the gun.
Can you recomend any high powered bird shot? I want to shoot steel plate matches. So I need lead number 7.5 or 7.

There are other 11-87 barrels that have gas mechanisms that will automatically adjust to lower-power loads. I think it is just the short law enforcement type barrels that lack adjustable gas mechanisms.

Federal makes a high-base bird shot that reliably cycled my 11-87, 9200, and others.
