Hello All,
I'm looking for a scope to get maximum benefit out of my home built .257 Roberts Ackley Improved (40 degree shoulder).
Characteristics would include, if possible:
-higher magnification for varmit style shooting at extended ranges for this cartridge, I'm thinking 300-350 with lighter 90-ish gr. bullets.
-low power for Whitetail Deer out to 200-250 with 117/120 gr. bullets.
-ranging a/o "holdover help" type reticle.
-quality optic.
-able to spend up to $300-350 or so.
I built this to be my "all around good gun" that could do most hunting in the Continental 48 and be a useful "distance" long arm for two legged predators if needed. I'd like a scope to match.
It's a mauser large ring action with a Douglas barrel in a fiberglass stock. It's got a Redfield base. I haven't bought rings or scope yet.
Thanks!
