View Full Version : What would be the BEST all around scope for a 10/22 Ruger
Just put a bull barrel and custom stock on, what would be the best for plinking and precision shooting out to 100-150 yards...price not a factor

It's a bit large, but a nice piece of glass:

Or, if you want a shorter/lighter scope:

thanks. What about the Leopuld rifleman series of scopes?

I have what I believe is the ultimate 10/22 scope on my 10/22. It is a Leupold VX-II 4-12x40AO. It will focus down to 25 yards or less id you lower the power and gives a very good magnification for the longer shots. I would steer clear of any scope that didn't have an AO. Been shooting the 10/22 since I bought mine new for $69. I missed out of the $49 ones.

The Rifleman series was designed to compete with other less-expensive scopes intended for centerfire hunting rifles, and as such, their parallax will be set for a longer distance, probably 100 to 150 yards. For rimfire use, you will be best served by a scope with a closer parallax setting, or an adjustable parallax setting (like the EFR models I listed above).
For the same approximate price range as the Rifleman series scopes, you could get this one (with a 60 yard parallax setting), intended for rimfire use:

Not the most expensive, but I have had great results with this:
Tasco Varminter 6-24x42mm, can be had for under $100
Also adjustable for less than 25m shots, but great magnification out to 100m and beyond. The mil-dot helps deal with the .22 drop at longer ranges.

Good shooting!
Go to rimfirecentral.com. You will get all the 10/22 info you can stand.
Good luck...

If rear mounted, Leupold 2x7 compact. If you can put a mount on the barrel, either a Burris or Leupold scout scope.
