View Full Version : Holosite onto a Bushmaster
I'd like to take a Bushnell holosite I've got and put it onto a Bushmaster XM-15A3, but I obviously need some sort of riser between the flat top and the site to get it up out of the way of the front site. Where can one find such a beast? Thanks!

how about ?
Is the front post totally in the way?
This one?http://www.snipercountry.com/InReviews/Bushnell_Holosight.asp
You need to figure out what you want to do w/ the sight first. Is the rifle for fun/range/patrol/etc?
Do you need to have iron sights?
If so, do you want to cowitness the irons w/ the HoloSight?
To leave the carry handle on be able to cowitness both sights:

You can also use this simple mount w/ your carry handle and still be able to use the irons with this:

To take the carry handle off and replace it with a foldable iron rear sight:

Can you mount the HoloSight forward and replace the rear iron sight with a foldable one like the upper left pic here?
http://www.bushmaster.com/shopping/scopes/eot-512-aa.asp
You can also mount it forward w/ an extension and still raise the sight a hair like this (but still pnead a rear iron sight):

Or do you just want to take the carry handle completely off, not worry about a rear sight and just clear the entire front sight? If so, there are mounts used as spacers to raise the sight bout 1 1/2" which are hollow so you can still see your irons.
These are just the ones offered by Bushmaster. There are literally hundreds of quality mount manufacturers out there and each has their own variation on mounting scopes/sights.
It's a daunting task but, rest assured, you are NOT the first one to try this combo so I gaurentee, someone has used one or all of these or some other product to do the same thing you're trying to do. You can always calll Bushmaster and ask what they recommend.
Happy "hunting".
ah I'm an idiot for not looking at Bushmaster first. Thanks!
No you're not. Try the optics forum at www.Ar15.com. There are so many options available for the M4/AR15 platform its puzzling.
