Russian Model SKS-45 Simonov semiautomatic rifle mfg. by Tula in 1954. Supposed to be "unissued", a 100% arsenal-refurbished example with 100% blue (blade-bayonet, bolt and bolt-carrier hard-chromed), bore mirror-bright and nearly perfect.
I have a Norinco I bought before the ban, 3 Yugo's, but this is my first ruskie.
Ahhh ... the expense of a C&R FFL ... almost wish I never got it ... but then again ... it sure is fun
I like the hard-chromed aspect

What did you pay?
good job these have been fetching $350-400 and will only go higher, they are the cream of the SKS crop.

I scored my first Russian about 2 months ago also. It is in very similar condition to yours, with at least 98% of original finish remaining. It is a 1952 Tula with a laminated stock. The price was $179. + tax. It was a right place/right time kinda thing I guess! ;)

Thanks guys, I've missed out on 3 of these, glad I finally caught one.
Formerly known as GoreLicks, I paid more than I wanted, but I have it ... think it was $375.
This will top off my "collectable" SKS's I'll stick with shooter grade from now on (until another I can't live without comes along).

If you look at what you're getting (stone-cold reliable battle rifle with quality machined parts, chrome-lined bore, good trigger & sights, real blued finish) and forget the fact that the Yugo 59/66's are abundent now in the $125 - $200 price range...the gun you have is worth $375. all day long. I like mine so much...I'd really like another. I would have a hard time walking away from another in the condition you discribe for $375.

Thanks for the positive reinforcement, Russ in PA. The rifle is great, I just have that feeling of "guilt" for splurging so soon after Christmas. :devilish:

Some UPS guy dropped it off yesterday ... WOW it is truly in "unissued" condition. I'm gonna hate to fire it, but that is what these things are for.
There is a "little" rust on the plate on the stock, other than that, it is "perfect".
I hate having a C$R FFL ... I can't stop spending money.
