They listed K31s in "special select" condition for a reasonable price.
Im in the market so I call up and make an order....easily the WORST experience I have had ordering a gun.
The lady spoke such poor english that it took me 10 minutes to get my order in....thank god I had already mailed them my C&R over a year ago so I didnt have to deal with that.
I wait about 1 1/2 weeks....no rifle, no charge on my card.
I call them back, just knowing that something was messed up.
No, nothing was messed up......they just arent filing orders right now. They were down for a couple days.......how 2 days means 1 1/2 weeks Im not sure.
When will my order be filled?
"Try back in a week or two"
WHAT?!
"Yeah we might get to it then, check back with us."
Wow....thats not the way I work. Just cancel my order.
Called up Classic Arms, took about 2 minutes. Order was taken right the first time from someone I can understand. Gun will be shipped out in the next couple days.
Recap
SAMCO......pathetic
Classic Arms.....great
Anybody else think its rediculous to wait over 3 weeks for a rifle....or Im I just to picky. Maybe SAMCO is usually better....Im not impressed. They could be selling K31s for $50 and I wouldnt call them again.

Oh your still getting a Samco K31 though! All the ones available including Classic's are Samco imports. That's a good thing, they seem to be in a little better condition than the earlier ones and the don't have that huge freakin' billboard on them the way Century's are.

Yeah I have some SAMCO imported guns already. K98 and a few Mosins (I believe).
The ones I have are in great condition and the fact they offered "special select" models really caught my eye.
Unfortunately the ordering process sucks.
Im not swearing off SAMCO guns.....just SAMCO. Classic Arms will continue to be my first call, they are great.

Luckily I avoided them. I have ordered SKS's and AK's from AIM Surplus several times now and the service was excellent, guns shipped out right away and I had them usually in 3 days.
Fast forward to this past Christmas. I wanted a NICE unissued SKS. Not many around the net anymore. Found them at SAMCO. Got on Survivors SKS boards, and saw all the posts about guys waiting WEEKS and sometimes a month or more for their guns to come in. NO THANKS. Not when AIM and other places ship right away. Why the heck does it take 3 weeks to ship out a gun? Hell no I did not order from SAMCO.
Now, I have heard SAMCO has some of the best quality guns. But I ordered an Excellent grade from AIM, got it in 3 days, and couldn't be happier.

Samco seems a lot like Century Arms can be at times. They'll sell it to you and ship it but its at their leisure. Since they are importers the main customers they have are the dealers like Aim, SOG, Classic arms, etc. They prefer orders of 500 at a time, not one or two.

The few times I have ordered from Century Arms I got my guns in less than 5 days. Most of the time it was 3 or 4.
I got my K31 from Classic and I think its a beauty. The bore is flawless. There was no cosmoline on it and the stock was in really good shape for a K31. Metal and bluing is easily 90% - really nice. All parts match.

Sweet! I love seeing a orphaned K31 find some new parents to care for it.
SAMCO is always like that. You just have to know how to work the system with them.
They do have nice guns (I have about 5 from there).

I tried to order some Hitenberger 8mm Mauser ammo from them about a year ago or more. Smae deal for me, woman that spoke broken English and was not helpful trying to tell me they needed my driver's license to check age. I faxed it, emailed it and then mailed it. I never got my ammo and when I called back they acted like I was an alien.
Thanks, but no thanks.
