I'm looking at getting an M11/9 from a guy in Texas. My ND dealer says that there will be a $200.00 tax on the transfer from TX to ND, and another $200.00 from him to me. I thought that that was his fee for doing the work, but he said his fee was an additional $100.00.

I was under the impression that there would be a single $200.00 tax. Which is correct?

Your dealer is correct.

Dang. Oh, well. The cost of fun is just a little higher that way, I guess. Thanks for the quick reply.

Look at it this way:
There is a tax every time the gun transfers between a non-dealer to a dealer. The guy in TX is apparently a non-dealer. So you have one tax from him to your dealer. Then, it has to transfer from him to you. Another tax. This tax goes directly to ATF. You dealer deserves a fee for handling the transfers. It's a royal PITA to handle. Lately, $100 seems about standard.
Enjoy!

And $100 for handling the non-sense is not too bad. If I sound a place around here that would do them for that, it would make me warm and fuzzy.

Those M11/9's aren't too hard to find. I'd check with some dealers in your area to see if you can save one of the transfer taxes.
