I went to four different local dealers this morning. The first, people that I like a lot and are always very nice to me, only offered to give me $300 on the G23. If they'd offered $400, I'd have jumped on it. $300 would have been fair if it had been a bone-stock G23, but with the tritium sights, Glockmeister trigger, and original trigger included, as well as the original case, manual, three mags, and even the original fired cases from Glock, I figured I could get a bit more.
The other two dealers laughed at me when I said I wanted $400 on trade-in.
The last dealer didn't even ask. He looked the Glock over carefully and said he'd give me $400 trade-in on it.
I told him that I wanted a Springfield 1911, and he suggested the exact gun that I had in mind.
He called to check his supplier's inventory, and said he could have it here by Friday. His price was in line with what I was willing to pay, so I gave him the difference in cash.
It comes with the Novak night sights. I'm not sure about the ambi-safety (shown in the photo), but I'll be happy either way.
Now I have to hope I'm home when it arrives. He said he'll hold it if I get called out of town.
Here's the photo from Springfield's site:

Just as I expected, I got called out of town, so I won't be here when it arrives. Rats!:steamed:
I'm gonna be stuck in Colorado for a few days while my new pistol awaits me.
I've already bought a box of WWB for it, too.
Oh well, I guess I'll get to shoot it the day I get back.
That is a nice looking Springer, but that was a bad move trading the G23 on it.
I dont think anything could seperate me from my G23.
The good news is that Glocks are cheap and plentiful and you will be able to replace it easily if you decide to do so.

Not at all. The G23 has spent almost all it's time in the safe lately, because I prefer carrying the G22. It's warm down here most of the year, so I've proven that the G22 carries as well for me whether in summer or winter clothes.
So I had to think of a gun that I rarely used that was worth enough to make a decent trade in. The G23 was the obvious choice.
And, as you stated, they're easy to come by, so I didn't get rid of anything that can't be easily replaced if I decide that I miss it.

Nice looking item. I've got to get my mitts on some of the crossed cannon grips for one of my SA's. They look great on any color of gun, dark or stainless.

I hope this one comes with those grips. I've seen pics of this gun with different grips. If it doesn't have them, I'm gonna ask Springfield for them. I like 'em too.

You'll love it. Mine is a beater but it runs well and shoots great.

Mine has been my constant companion, and it's weight on my belt has comforted me on more than one occasion. You will like it.

Forgot to add, you might want to order a GI guide rod and plug(might as well toss a new 23lb mainspring and 16lb recoil spring on that too since Springfield uses different ones).. the two piece FLGR that Springfield uses makes take down a pain and it likes to loosen itself after a few rounds.

Where's a good source? Can you recommend a manufacturer?
I just searched Brownell's for GI "Guide Rod 1911" and came up with thousands of items in the search results. I didn't know how to narrow it down.

Try Ed Brown. My parts almost exclusively come from Brown. The guide rod and plug shouldn't be more than $20 or so.

Thanks guys. Noted and bookmarked.
I'm gonna see how it behaves in the as-built configuration first, but if I see a hint of a problem, I'll jump on this.

Listen to the voice of experience on this one. Scott came over to the dark side some time back.
Here are the part numbers you need from www.brownells.com for the Ed Brown GI recoil spring guide and plug:
087-881-001
Recoil Spring Plug, Blue
087-882-001
Recoil Spring Guide, Blue
Personally, I prefer the standard GI set up and that is what I reccomend to everyone looking to pack a 1911 for serious use.

Thanks again. I saved a shopping cart at Brownells.
The parts are:
087-881-001 Ed Brown Plug
087-882-001 Ed Brown Guide
969-950-600 Wolff 16# Recoil Spring
969-263-230 Wolff 23# Hammer Spring
(3 each of the springs)
Are these what I need?
