Thompson Submachineguns are manufactured by none other than Kahr Arms via their "Auto Ordanance" label they aquried when they bought that company.

Anyone have any experience with these new semi-auto Thompsons? 'Cause I'd freaking love to have one.

Don't know anything about them but who wouldn't want one of these?

I had not seen a Tommy gun in years until recently. It had the drum magazine, violin case, and a coolness factor of 10 out of 10. It looks just like the above picture. It's also a bit intimidating as well (in a good way) and appears to be able to leave you standing in a big pile of brass in no time. Ouch$$$.

It is just about the coolest gun money can buy (in my not-even-remotely-humble opinion).

The neat thing about Kahr Arms' Tommyguns is that for $800 to $1000 bucks you've got a .45 semi-auto with a 16.5 inch barrel and ludicrous capacity... not to mention a FREAKING VIOLIN CASE to haul it around in.

By all accounts it's a pleasure to shoot... and I certainly wouldn't hesitate to use it for SHTF home defense instead of, say, a shotgun or M4/AR-15.

The one review I've stumbled across for the 1927A1 wasn't too terribly in love with the trigger pull (easily fixable I'm sure) and mentioned FMJ seemed to feed best with the drum magazines... again, fixable if I really want a 50-100 round can of hollowpoints. Besides that, it was full marks for shootability, accuracy and, of course, the fun factor.

Great, I need to chamois all the drool off of my keyboard now.
