If I have a 29 can I simply put on a 30 upper slide assembly to get .45acp?
I realise tha the breech faces are different so that I can't simply do a barrel swap, but a full assembly should do it right?
Sure can. I just checked my G30 and my G29 and they look like they use the same ejector so as long as you are doing complete upper swaps you shouldn't run into any problems.
And don't forget to get G30/G21 mags!

Not only do they use the same ejector, but the frames on the G20/21 and G30/29 are identical. Same exact part numbers. Therefore, it's the slide on the frame that makes it a specific caliber, nothing on the frame is unique.
They use the same ejector NOW. In the past the 20 and 21 had different ejectors, as did the 29 and 30. It kinda depends on the vintage.

Where does one get a G29 upper other than from an individual? Can you order one from a store since the frame is what makes the firearm?

Most of the online Glock specialty places carry them. Usually have to piece them together with a complete slide and a barrel.
