View Full Version : 10mm feed problem

I just got back from the range after a somewhat frustrating shooting session. I had some feed problems with my G29 using DT 215gr WFNGC bullets. Most of them fired without a hitch but several times the bullet would get caught up on the top of the chamber. It put a pretty good gash in the front of the bullet where it hung up. It wouldn't eject by racking the slide either. I actually had to take the mag out and then pull the slide back to drop the bullet. This is disturbing because this is my main woods carry round. Any thoughts? Anybody had this problem?

Are you using the stock Glock G29 barrel? Is the rest of the gun completely stock?

Everything is stock except peirce grip extension (not a + extension).

The problem that you are describing is not too uncommon with aftermarket barrels. The solution is to remove the sharp chamber edge at the 12 o'clock position at the chamber mouth. I have never heard of this type of failure with a stock barrel.
Since you are already using quality Double Tap ammo for in your G29, I suspect that the problem is not with the ammo.
If this problem persists, you might try the above fix. I suggest the Dremel tool with a Dremel diamond taper point (part No. 7134).

Take care not to remove too much material. Only enough to round the sharp edge where the rounds are hanging up.

Thanks for the response. I also fired 135gr HP and 200gr XTP HP's and both of those fed perfectly. I think the the wide nose on the 215 gr gas checked create more of a problem. Not every bullet did it, but 3 out of 10 is way too much for me.

Yes, exactly. This problem of the bullet nose hanging up can oftentimes be solved by switching to a cartridge with a different bullet nose profile (narrower meplat).
If you don't mind changing bullet types, this is probably the easiest fix.

Thanks, I was hoping I would get more people to chime in on this. I guess I always like to hear something from several sources on the internet before I will take it as truth: especially when it involves powertools and my glock.
That is nothing personal against anyone who replies. I am thankful that I can ask these questions in a forum like this.

never a problem on a stock barrel but i haven't shot the rounds you are talking about.
always need to polish up the feed edge on aftermarket with the tighter chamber.
polishing the edge does help but i would just change bullet design.
my 2 cents
