Evening everyone!

Just finished cleaning my G19 after an afternoon at the local range. As I was field-stripping the Glock, a though occured to me I'd like to share. Considering the nature of this forum, I figured you would understand.

I have owned several firearms of various types over time and have shot several more. I also read all the usual "gun rags" out there and spend time at the counter at the shop drooling over the new toys after every range session. I guess I'm a typical gun guy, except for the 13lb calico cat who sits on my work table and supervises every cleaning session.

Anyway, the thought that struck today was how almost perfect my G19 is for my needs. It is rugged, simple, dependable, accurate and fits my hand like a glove. It, unlike its owner, performs flawlessly, and has never had any kind of problem not directly caused by yours truly. Today I used several different sized mags, ran two types of ammo in the same mag at the same time, shot off-hand, one-handed, etc. No problems. Ever.

We have more than our fair share of 1911 fans at the local club, so I get my share of odd looks (mostly an older crowd), and I do think those Kimber Ultra Carry IIs are real nice, but the G19 is simply the finest firearm I have ever owned or shot.

I use my G19 for home defense, outfitted with tritium sights and a couple of little mods. A Crimson Trace is enroute as I write this. I have a nice light in the nightstand, as I'm one of those people who thinks sometimes the light is best not attached to the gun. (I know, people will disagree, but hey, it works for me.) My little setup is just about ideal for my needs and my wallet. Hats off to Gaston Glock. I've also learned a great deal from reading Glock Talk, and so also wanted to say thanks for the help. I hope my postive message inspires us Glock owners to be confident and proud in our choices.

I know I'm in the G19 forum, but if you could buy another Glock, what would it be and why? (No, it can't be another G19!)

Thanks everyone.

but if you could buy another Glock, what would it be and why? (No, it can't be another G19!)

It would be a G17 or G22. I love the feel of the full size grips but sold a G22 several years ago. Felt great but the G23 and G27 both shot a smaller group most of the time. I think since the G22 was newer I just wasn't as used to it plus the triggers get better with use.

Yes, I do have a G19 and shoot it more then the others.

Well the G19 was the first Glock I bought.

Actually bought it for my wife because she tried one in her CCW class and liked it.

My next Glock was a G36 for myself. I liked her G19, but I was a died in the wool 1911 carrier so I needed a .45 ACP. The G30 was just too fat in my hands. My G36 became my daily carry gun.

Next up was the G17. Main reason was my son started shooting the G19 in USPSA matches and I wanted a 9MM for myself. Picked up a police trade in 2nd gen G17. I wouldn't have minded getting a G34 but I found the G17 a lot cheaper.

...The G30 was just too fat in my hands...

I had the same problem with the 30. Have never fired a 36. Will give it a try. Thanks.

My first Glock was a first generation G17. I wish I still had it. But the G19 is the perfect gun for me. It fits my hand so well, shoots great, is light even though it holds 16-18 rounds and conceals great too. I am amazed at how much firepower there is in such a light, compact, realtively short-barreled pistol. And it's rugged to boot.

I've gone through dozens of guns over the years, but the only constant has been my G19. I'll never sell it. I'm hoping to heck that the new G21SF fits my hand better than the super fat G21. If so, I'll get one of those. Otherwise I might just get a G37 or 38 (I do like reloading for obscure cartridges, lol) and stick to 1911's for my .45acp fix. Or I'll get the 21 and find someone to do a grip reduction for me.

We have the 19 and 34.
But if you like the 19 so much, you could get the harder hitting 23.

My first Glock was a 19 and I love it, so naturally my next purchase was the 38, same size frame, more power. The next Glock I want to try out is the 26.

Try the 26 before you buy.
It is very accurate, but I sold mine because it was only a tiny bit easier to conceal than the 19, but a lot harder to draw, and a lot harder to shoot quickly.
I think that it was made because of the 10 round restriction.

I'm like a lot of y'all. I was a firm fan of 1911 variants and Browning Hi-powers. I made fun of GLOCKs and the people who shot them. It only took me buying a single G19 to realize what a pig-headed fool I had been. Now, all those people who heard me bad-mouth GLOCK products for so long continue to joke about seeing one in my holster. That's okay...I just smile & then proceed to OUTSHOOT them!

My next GLOCK will be a G24. Yep, a long slide G24. With a .357sig barrel conversion velocities of +1600fps are not uncommon. I'm gonna get a full "Racegun" trigger job (GLOCK Racing?) and have a Cominolli manual safety installed (for a little extra peace-of-mind). Then comes a dot-sight or a pistol scope and I've got an accurate, flat-shooting, hard-hitting coyote rig that fits under my jacket. Perfect for backwoods four-wheeling.

My first Glock was also a Gen. I 17. It was used and abused when I bought it and I did so to prove how terrible plastic guns were. I honestly tried to break the thing, but it wouldn't give up. I drank the Kool-Aid and had them since.

The 19 is quite possibly the best 9mm pistol ever made. It is small enough to conceal, yet large enough to shoot well. It is utterly reliable. It is cheap to shoot. It has the perfect blend of capacity and size. It's not match accurate, but it isn't a match pistol. It does what it does nicely and without stopping (except for reloads). I had a 26, and it was a very nice pistol - I shot it just as well as the 19. However, when I went to carry a pistol the 19 always seemed to get the nod.

I have a 21 I love to shoot and I carry it a good bit as well. But as for balance, the 19 is as good as it gets.

1st Pistol purchased was a M1911 but sold it because I literally couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. 2 yrs ago, go interested in Glock and bought a 2nd Gen G17. Liked the 17 and then got interested in the 19. The 19 fit my hand better and was nearly as accurate as the 17. Have started looking at the Walther P99. P99 owners I have read really like them.
