View Full Version : 44 mag Eagle Wont fire!
When I pull triger on my 44 mag Eagle, the hammer does not close all the way onto the firing pin. So sometimes the gun fires and sometimes it doesn't. Upon inspection of the round after missfire, the primmer is ever so slightly dented, just not enough to cause ignition.
What is wrong with this gun, is it common on DE
do I need to go to a smith or send it to de
I can't diagnose your problem, but I can tell you that it is not common. Mine always goes bang. Is this a new gun? You can always give a call to Magnum Research. In my dealings buying parts and accessories they have always been great. I have no experience with them dealing with problem issues. Good luck and let us know how things work out.

I've NEVER heard of that problem either.
I've owned my .44 mag DE for almost 20 years now with no problems whatsoever.
I'd say ...... pull out the hammer group(it comes out as one piece) and take a look-see. A pin might have worked itself out or loose. Also while out you can check for gunk inside.
Please let us know what you discover.
the gun is very clean, as i keep it that way. Please inform me as to how to pull out the hammer group. that is where the problem must lie.
Get on the Magnum Research site. Download the owners manual. Go to pg.26.
Due to the rather severe conditions that my DE is used in(see my other post re. hog hunting),I have taken out my trigger mech ass'y several times and blown it out with a fine mist of WD-40 hooked to my compressor. Followed by 100psi of air to thoroughly dry. This has worked fine for me. Also a small amt. of gun type grease on the surfaces that move together wont hurt.
Would also highly reccommend the DE/Hogue grips and aftermarket sights if your gonna do any "serious work" with the weapon.

+1 to taking it all apart and clean/lube it. You wouldn't want to send it into Magnum Research for something you may be able to fix. Plus it's super neat and fun to do.
I have never taken it apart beyond field striping before.
Thanks to all of you fine people on this thread, I took the gun completely apart and cleaned/lubed every part of that weapon. Now it fires just great.
Thanks again
