I just love the 45 Colt cartridge. From 250's at 750fps to 335's at 1300fps, this is just a great old cartridge. And with 250 grain Gold Dots at 1100-1200fps it's hard to beat as a home defense gun.

I have the Bisley SS 5.5" that was done for Accusport and the discontinued Redhawk (also with a 5.5" tube), both in 45 Colt. Now I see the shop down the street has an old style Vaquero in 45 Colt... can't get enough of the Ruger 45's.

I have a Blackhawk in 45 Colt with 4 5/8 in barrel as my go to woods gun. I hand load and this cartridge is a dream. I would like one with a 7.5 tube for hunting.

I'd been thinking about having my Acusport shortened to about 4-3/4" or so, as it's the only one I shoot my really heavy loads out of. The Keith-type grip frame really helps with those.

But I succumbed to a no-bull 3-3/4" Vaquero (aka Vaquito) not long ago, found while prowling thru all the boxes at the local shop in search of something else, and it carries so well it may end up my trail-pal after all. Not that 23.5gr of H-110 would be fun but it would certainly do the job if need be when in the Rockies. Mostly it will be shooting plinking loads or carried around the property with 18.5gr of 2400 and a 275-300gr bullet.

.45 Colt - MMMmmmmmmmmmmmm.

(Uh, did I say you should be snagging that Vaquero???)

I saw one of those "Sheriffs Model" Vaqueros on gunbroker. What a sweet piece. Would love to have one of those too!

Ah come on man....You mean I turn you on to these great loads and you aren't going to carry full house 23.5 H110 loads in it? What is wrong with you Hoss? haha

Just kidding...The "Sheriffs model" is fun to own and shoot. I like a milder load in it to carry on the ranch for varmints. Even 650/800fps is fun from this little gun. They can be pretty dang accurate if you work with them, but then, they are Rugers!

Low end 'Unique' loads are good for the "Vaquito", as 'youcall it. I have adopted that handle for the sheriffs model, i like it. Has a good Southwest flavor to it!

(btw), it does make for an excellent belly gun in town !

Have fun boys!

Can you have too many bottles of scotch? Can you have too many p/u trucks? Can you have too many bird dogs? Can you have too much money? Of course not! Why waste our time with such a ridiculous question? I only have 3: An old model, 4 5/8 barrel, factory (lettered) brass frame and a consecutive serial numbered pair of bright stainless, 5 1/2 barrel, "ivory" grips. I still need a Vaquero w/ case frame, 5 1/2 barrel, wood grips, among a couple of more.

To answer your question, NO

I am hoping that Ruger comes out with a 4" RH

I keep missing on those 5.5 SS Bisleys, how do I get info on them???

I have seen them come up every once in awhile on gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com

As of yesterday i am a proud owner of a Vaquero 4 5/8". I've always been a fan of 45LC and S/A guns but never had one until i traded a gentleman on here for it. I firmly believe that it is what my collection has been longing for. It fits like a glove in my hand.

At first it was just because i thought it would be cool to have and now i don't see how i did without. I haven't even shot it yet and i'm starting to look for my next one!!!

Good times. Now my only question is to get another Blued or go Stainless?

Most pleasant, especially since I had my favorite set of unlined deerskin gloves on as well.

I'm zeroing mine in the old fashioned way; the rear box is getting filed little by little and same for the front sight. She's pretty close now; final tweaks will wait until it's just a bit warmer. I'll have to get a pic up with that beat-up gunshow holster my leather-guru altered for me. But here's one from yesterday with a Trail Boss load crouching by my tailgate.

No you can't. Unfortunately I only have one. It is my favorite gun to shoot and show off.
