30.06 all the way for my hunting needs. I am also digging the 25.06 due to less recoil and kills just as good as the 30.06. Esox357.

I've never shot a hog, a few deer though. I'm in a toss up right now of my favorite caliber, the 7mag or the 325WSM. They both have done very well for me.

Up north, I like the .270

Down here, I have really busted up these smaller deer with the .270 so I began carrying the .243 in the woods more.

But shoot what YOU shoot well.

.308 or 30-06 depending on which rifle I feel like carrying.

If you really want to know the truth, I'd prefer to use a 100 gr Montec attached to a Goldtip shaft.

22lr for hog because it is so cheap to shoot, but 25-06 for deer because of less recoil then the 30-06, but can still do the job just as well.

I am going to throw one out that ALWAYS seems to rile people up. I hunt nearly everything with a .243 Win. I use it for whitetail, coyote, woodchucks, the whole nine yards. I think it is a highly underated caliber.

While it may not be nearly as powerful as a 300 win mag, it has managed to drop every deer I have ever shot in one shot.

It is accurate, light recoiling, versatile, and powerful enough for anything I need to do.

*disclaimer- crappiest deer rifle ever in the brush.
