Glock 29 failure to eject and failure to feed problems

Hi guys, I spent a few hours out today with my new Glock 29.

I had Atlanta Arms and Double Tap ammo with me.

I got probably 12 failures to eject and 3 failures to load.

The fte were all with AA ammo and the ftl were with DT 230 WFNGC.

Also the brass doesn't get thrown very far, a few feet for most but many eject straight up or to the right a foot or so. It really doesn't throw brass very far, its an old stock gun, new never used but old stock. It has the old style extractor on it as well.

I use a good strong grip and don't have these problems with my G20, whichthrows brass across the county line.

This has stock recoil spring, its only a few days old with only 300 rounds through it so far.

The AA ammo seems fairly strong, just as strong as Remington UMC, its 180 gr at 1100 fps if I recall correctly.

The loaded Double Taps feed too high, the hit the top of the chamber, they didn't follow the feed ramp.

The AA empties recoiled but didn't get thrown clear, one got up too high past the extractor and I needed to drop the mag, lock the slide back and push the empty back down and then extract. The others just didn't get thrown clear.

I just installed an extended slide release and an extended mag release.

Any info to help diagnose this would be much appreciated.

Hmm, almost as if something is absorbing all the recoil energy that should be ejecting the brass and feeding the new round, huh? My guess would be that it's a little more sensitive to your grip and stance problems that your other Glock. I've sen the same with stock 9mm Glocks, where a person could shoot the larger guns with no problem but the next smaller size gave them serious limpwristing trouble.

It is possible that I am limp wristing the 29 and not my 20.

Can someone give me feedback on how to correct a limp wrist problem if that is the issue?

What's the first three of your serial number and what's the number on your extractor?

Is it 4340? If so, you need to update your extractor to the 8196-2. I had FTE's until I changed my extractor, and then all FTE's stopped.

You're not the first to experience FTE's due to the extractor issue on the G29. A number of us with G29's have encountered the same.

The first 3 of my serial are DZS but I dont know which the extractor is. The only # on the extractor is 11

ok mine is an 8196-2.

Do you think getting the new style extractor might help even though i have the new ejector?

I'm actually not aware of a new extractor. I just wasn't aware there was a new and old when it came to extractors (ejectors yes, but not extractors). If you get info on that, pass that along to me, would ya?

I have a CFZ series G29, with the 8196-2 ejector, and I'm not getting those problems.

My Glock 20 has a different extractor then my G29. Thats why I thought there must be a new verison since my G29 is from 2001, and I think my G20 is only a year or so old.

never heard of problems with ejection on a 29 before this thread. even with my weird loads of AA#2 and 180 grain bullets, no problem. interesting.

it may be me, i might be limp wristing. I am ordering some Double Tap practice loads. I will retry the gun and report back to you guys.

I don't think it is entirely due to your possible limpwristing.

Your not alone on the problems with the Double tap ammo. Shot some of of my Glock 19 yesterday. Three fail to feeds, just as you desribed, hitting the top of the chamber. Don't feel my problem is a limpwristing issue. I'm shot a lot of firearms, never had a wrist problem before. It seems my 19 likes bullet shapes such as Hornady XTP and the winchester HP designs. If you figure out the problem with yours please get back to us with your findings.

The gun is going back to Glock for an upgrade.
