I'm waiting on my sign off right now for an SRT Shadow, and wondered what the rules are for showing paperwork when in the field?

Do I have to keep a copy with the SU at all times? If I get caught without the paperwork, is it (any charge) thrown out when I show it later?

What about leaving the SU with a local smith who will be threading my barrel? Its Noveske which is at least C2. Do I have to do a transfer or a receipt to show that its not in my posession?

Thanks for any help!

It's recommended that you keep a good quality copy with the item at all times. Technically you don't have to but it's far less of a headache.

I don't show my papers to regular joes. I tell them my Form 4 is a private tax document so unless their my CPA or the IRS they can kiss my ass. As for LEO it's very simple to show them the paper then ask if they want to shoot it. I've only had one incident with a bad LEO while out hunting.

I have one form 4 copy in range bag, one in my gun case, one in my glove box, etc. Basically I always have at least two copies with the item.

You don't have to leave the suppressor with a smith unless you're doing a cut down barrel and having the suppressor perm welded to the barrel.

You should be able to easily have the smith thread the barrel and you can attach the suppressor when he's done. If the smith can't thread the barrel without needing the suppressor you might want to look into a better smith. Mark McWillis at TROSUSA.com can thread a barrel.

Thanks GixxerSixxer, that's what I thought.

Another newb question: Can I loan the gun out to a friend as long as he has the form 4 this him?

No loaning out, you need to be in posessions basically at all times.
