How much better is a milled reciever then a stamped. Is it worth to spend the extra money?

The milled receiver is quite heavy. It does not flex as much while firing as a stamped receiver does, so that typically equates to better accuracy. Receiver life is about 4X that of a 1MM stamped receiver. Milled AK spare parts are not as common on the market as stamped AK parts. Many parts do inter-change. It's quite a bit more difficult to find after-market stocks & such that fit milled receivers. It costs quite a bit more to make a milled receiver, so the milled rifles tend to cost quite a bit more... but they also hold their value. As few milled receivers will ever be offered again, they may do nothing but appreciate in the future.

The stamped receiver rifles are about 2 pounds lighter than a milled rifle. Spare & after-market parts are common. I doubt the average shooter would ever be able to wear out a stamped receiver. By the time the barrel starts to show signs of wear (about 10K rounds), the receiver will also show signs of stretching. A typical sign of excessive wear is the top cover (dust cover) won't fit quite right and if you look inside the receiver at the rivets, the holes will be slightly elongated. Still, plenty of life left in that receiver.

Is it worth spending the extra money? No, not really.

Depends on the stamped receiver. All things equal a milled will be more accurate and durable than a 1mm receiver.

If you're talking about a 1.6mm stamped receiver with the RPK trunnion, then I'd say it's on par with the milled in terms of accuracy and durability.

The VEPRs are 1.6mm w/RPK trunnions, and are generally acknowledged as the most accurate AK variants.

Here's a few stamped receiver AK's next to a milled Bulgarian side-folder.

Vepr also has a heavier barrel than most AKs.

I have one, I like it. One day I might pick up a milled Bulgy in 5.56, but I also want a FAL, and AR.....and Model 700 in 338 UM and 223.....and....
