Yeah, I know, I'm a greenhorn at this forum. But I just searched the archives and all this "filler alternative" stuff has been discussed before. Even my "melted GLOCK polymer" has been mentioned, although trigger housing pins (rather than mags) were suggested as raw melting material. The post said they & the frame were the same polymer.
If the issue is the different melt/stipple characteristics of non-polymer filler material...then the solution is to match the color as closely as possible and then texture the reduced grip with a technique that DOESN'T use heat (remember, I would rather avoid bed-liner coating or some other dye job to match the reduced area with the original frame color).
Rather than telling y'all what I plan (only to be continually reminded of the bed-liner re-coat option) I'm gonna' TRY it and tell/show y'all how it turns out! Then, if everyone thinks it's cool & wants to know how?...:tongueout: I'm going to keep it to myself and charge anyone who wants it done to their pistol out the WAAZOO for me to do it!
Okay...I'm just kidding about the secret part. Stay Tuned...
Oh Dammit! This was supposed to be a continuation of my "Best Filler Material for Grip Reduction" thread. Someone (who knows what they're doing) please delete this and move it over there if possible. (I gotta' get BETTER at this stuff)
