you need to check that the series 80 firing pin safety mechanism is working properly and moving the firing pin sfety out of the way when you pull the trigger

There is a firing pin block in the slide. It is a plunger with a spring. When you pull the trigger, the back of the trigger bow actuates two levers. The top of these two levers pushes up on that plunger, moving it out of the way of the firing pin.
There are several possible causes of your problem. The single most common is that there is insufficient lift of the top lever in the frame, causing the plunger to lift only partially in the slide, and blocking or slowing the firing pin.
The most often encountered cause of insufficient lever lift is when the user has an adjustable overtravel screw in the trigger and adjusts out too much overtravel. The trigger needs to have a certain amount of overtravel to give sufficient lift to levers and plunger.
If you have a trigger with overtravel screw, adjust the screw back out a little. Also, if that was the cause, realize you were also getting sear bump by your hammer hooks, and that's also no good. A general rule of thumb is to adjust the overtravel screw out enough that you don't have sear bump, and you'll almost always have enough lift for your Series 80 plunger.
One other thing to consider, if this is in fact your problem, is that your plunger will now be chewed up, and might need replacing. If it turns out that you have a trigger with overtravel adjustment, and the cause of your problem was too much overtravel adjusted out, then let me know, and I'll tell you how to check your plunger to see if it needs replacement. It's a cheap part.

Revrend i dont see a screw anywhere to adjust the triger however it seems like the firing pin dosent stick out enough for the hammer to strike it and in turn strike the primer, the little plunger underneath the rear sight seems to be functioning moving up and down.
