I have ordered a new and longer slide lock for my Glock model 33. It looks fairly easy to change to the longer one. Just depress the spring and slide out the old one and replace with the new one. Or am I in for an unpleasant surprise? Thank you for any help.

go to the exploded view of your glock in the manual, if you have one.

Nope. That is really all there is to it. Just push down that little spring and out it comes. Just make sure you pay attention to which way it came out. One side is smooth and one side has a ridge. I think the ridge side goes towards the back of the Glock.
:)
Use a small screwdriver or the Armorer's Tool to depress the spring foward of the lock.
Shake the receievr to one side and the lock falls out.
Start the new slide lock in the receiver with the cut (ridge) facing up and toward the rear of the receiver), staying clear of the spring.
With one hand holding the receiver, use the other hand to depress the spring and insert the lock.
With the lock partially installed, release pressure on the spring and continue inserting the lock until the spring "snaps" into the cutout on the bottom of the lock.
For orientation purposes, this photo was taken from the rear, toward the front of the receiver. The slide lock is immediatelt in front of the locking block. You can see the cut is at the top of the lock and facing toward the camera (rear):

PP914 is correct, it takes about 10 seconds. The extended Lonewolf unit works great, I just received a pair of them yesterday(chromed).

+1 on the Lone Wolf. If you have big hands/fingers it makes a big difference. It's surprising how such a small increase in length makes it so much easier.

Thanks. Funny how the 10 second jobs tend to take 10 minutes to type or describe.
