View Full Version : My new Bulgarian Arsenal SA-93
At least some half way decent pictures...
Sporting some nice Wood Furniture. I wanted to get a picture before I put the Black on. Not sure which way it will stay until I see it both ways. I have to admit the cherry is growing on me though. This ones been de-banned, threaded barrel with 45 degree FB with bayo lug. Well built little thing. Milled receiver and Bulgarian made. Imported 1994.

Too sweet, I have had an SA-93 for about 15 years, and wouldn't trade it for anything. I think you'll be suprised at how accurate it is!
BTW, yours looks WAAAAY cooler than mine with the wood furniture!
Happy shooting!
John
Actualy John, yours was more what I was looking for when I first started looking around. The black furniture thing. And I ended up trading for the furniture too. Just so happened the set of black was not fitted yet and this nice Wood was. So I got them both in the end. Now... after seeing it in person it has grown on me. I do intend to fit the Black but... I have a feeling the wood is going to end up being primary set up now. I would not have thought I would have liked it. But this wood is exceptionaly pretty.
This is Johns black beauty (cropped a bit to fit and load faster)

Very nice!
Keep the wood.
That wood looks like crap. I'll give you 30 bucks for it.
I just bought an Arsenal SA-93 today and did a search and this thread came up. What kind of wood is that on yours? I see where Ironwood: http://www.ironwooddesigns.com/2aprod/1zAKproduct.html makes some nice wooden stock sets. I think that they look cool.
I am interested in making my SA-93 into a side folder or underfolder. I don't want to cut off any tangs or modify the receiver in any way. I want to be able to put it back the way it is, if I don't like it. Right now it is in the fugly thumbhole furniture, which has to go.
Two reasons for this post. Any ideas on how to do the folder thing with just a screwdriver on these Arsenal SA-93s? Second, if I don't do that I would be interested in just changing out the thumbhole stock. Do you want to get rid of the plastic or wood furniture if you have a set that you are not using?
Rick
Hey Rick. Too late. I just sold that Black plastic furniture a week or so back. Yes, Ironwood can do you a single tang milled furniture set that will take nothing to do. You could try and match the existing front stuff and just do a rear stock and pistol grip alone. I am not certain but I think KVAR has a bolt on folder rear trunion for folders for milled recievers that takes little to no removal off the SA93's. I think the SA95 it requires removal of the bottom tang, which you don't have. And perhaps just a bit of filing of the upper tang. At least that is how I understood one member at AK forums was saying he achieved it. You migth want to research some over there about adding a folding stock to a milled Arsenal receiver. Its been done. I do know that.
Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate the point in the right direction. I might just call K-Var.

I found that thread I was thinking of. And of course this is not exactly applicable to a 93 but it does seem he had to also cut the top tang as well for this particular install.
Interesting read though. And there might be something of some other style thats more applicable without cutting the top tang out there. I have not gone looking around for one.

However... like I said, Ironwood has some milled receiver selections of stocks and can do a single tang SA 93 one too.

Don't change it to black! It looks great how it is now. So how much do those things go for? A local shop by me has one for around $550 (It is a ban one with butthole stock). So how many US parts did ya have to put in that to make it legal? Is it around 3-4? Oh and how did ya get a bayo lug on it? I have a neutered Ak and would love to get a lug on it. Thanks!

Nice link CP. I loved the folder that folds to the left but want to be able to put a fixed stock back on without welding. If push comes to shove I will put the Ironwood furniture on and just be happy. I do really like the concept of a little lower profile carrying the gun in a duffle size bag to be discrete, but instead of a permanent alteration, classic wood is always pleasing to my eye.
Thanks again,
Rick
