Someone I know ( not an armorer or gunsmith ) told me to only use Prolix on my Glocks (mod 30 and 34). Is this good advise or are there other products I could use that are better? I'm brand new to this forum so I appreciate any advise yall can give me.

Most products, used properly, will work fine on your Glocks.
www.slip2000.com Slip 2000 has some great, user friendly products.
www.break-free.com Break-Free CLP will work fine for cleaning and lubing your Glock. I've used it for over 15 years now on everything from pistols to M60 machineguns and 8" howitzers.
www.militec-1.com Militec-1 will work great as a lube.
www.corrosionx.com Corrosion-X works great as a CLP-type product.
www.milcomm.com Milcomm has a great line of lubes and cleaners.
www.tetraproducts.com Tetra Gun is what I am currently using.
FWIW, Glock uses and recommends both Break-Free CLP and the Milcomm line of products.
Cleaning with Dawn dish detergent or Simple Green and lubing with Mobil 1 engine oil will also work great. Glocks are not picky.
There are lots of ways to go. If you want the "best", I'd probably go with the Slip 2000 or Milcomm line. If you want the easiest and most convienient (available at Wal-Mart), go with Break-Free CLP. If you want the cheapest, go with Simple Green and Mobil 1.
Hope this helps,
Clay

I use Break-Free CLP on everything.
I've heard of people putting the lower reciever in the dishwasher! I wouldn't do it. But from the sounds of it, some use dawn and warm water. Gotta blow out the water and lube afterwards for sure!
I use Kleen Bore #10 and Kleen Bore gun oil on my Glock and SIG. Both work great.

I have never used Prolix. But were is he getting his information on only useing Prolix? I use Mpro7, or if you like you can use Simple Green, If you like the smell Hoppes 9 or Shooters Choice. For lube I like TW25B for the range and Gun Butter for CCW. I also use Gun Scrubber or brake cleaner, Can air to blow the solvents and crud out, Qtips that are on a wood stick are very help full, Round tooth picks for cleaning the Extractor is also very help full. Also old tooth brushes. For the bore I like the turbo brushes on a good stainless steal rod. Also always clean from the breach end to the muzzle end, When using any brush make sure you have solvent on the brush. When done with the brush spray it down with either Gun Scrubber or brake cleaner to get did of the solvent. Scott blue Shop towels work great for wipeing the gun down and they also make a good cleaning patch.
