Hi all -
I'm pretty sure this will work, but I want to ask how this has turned out for anyone else who has tried it before I lay out some dough.
I've got an SAR-1with a TDI upper forward hand gaurd with a picatinny molded into it that I want to mount a EO Tech red dot sight on (in otherwords in the forward scout postion).
Has anyone else tried a EO Tech in this position this far forward on an AK and if so how well does it work and how easily can you still see it?
Am asking only b/c I'm think vs. how they are normally mounted more towards the rear of the upper, like on a flat top AR? I just want to make sure that if it's that far forward I can still see it clearly enough to use it.
Beyond that, the only other thing I am worried about is how stable the TDI plastic mount is, vs. using one of the Ultima AK style metal mounts, which I am sure is much more stable and may hold it's setting that much better (?).
I may even go back and swtich over to the Ultima AK mount later on if the EO Tech works well in this position, just to ensure that everything is a little more rock solid. I plan on using this SAR-1 for my main short to intermidate range long arm for defensive purposes.
