Im looking for an indoor pistol range near the Pittsburgh or Washington area.

I've seen the Bullseye Place near Robinson, are they open?

87vert,

Bullseye has been closed for a couple years.

I'm thinking the closest indoor range to you is Anthony Arms in West Mifflin on Lebanon Church road at the entrance to the county airport( see Otto Orive-he is a member here and on the Pafoa list as Orive8).

I heard there is another indoor range in Youngwood but I know nothing about it.

Another range is at Pitcarin Monroeville Sportsman's club. You need to be a member to use that facility.

Check the ranges forum at Pafoa. There is another indoor range somewhere around Speers. I think the range owner is Bloomautomatic. www.bloomautomatic.com/lbsc

Other than those, there may be some indoor places to shoot at various clubs. Membership will probably be required.

thats what I thought there was a for sale sign next to their sign but now its gone and there were a bunch of cars in front of the place

The anthony arms place looks like they make you use their ammo which isnt too bad but Im sure its more expensive than the stuff I buy.

I am in bloomautomatics club but I am looking for more of a store/range or one where I can vary the distance of the target. (like anthony arms)

I went out to this range today. It is a really nice place. They were pretty busy but my bro and I were able to share a lane. Yearly memberships are expensive though at like 230.

Yeah, Anthony's definately makes you buy their ammo. I was interested in joining because its closer to me than a lot of other indoor places, but my main interest was to find a place where i could work up a good 200swc target load.
Unfortunately, i approached them quietly and asked if there was any "extra fee" option for people who were trying to work up loads, and they looked at me like i was crazy.

They have an annual sale at in December for $199.00. Since you can use your own ammo the savings can easily offset the difference, especially if you reload. Oh, yeah, there are no restrictions on the membership. A member can shoot as much as they want as often as they want.

yea I'll prolly join, wish I could use rifles there though. The indoor range in Va beach lets you use rifles for a few bux more and its only 75 a year.

Washington sportsmans club just above the washington co fairgrounds has an indoor range for handgun. It's not very big, however about the only "rules" for the indoor handgun range (about 5 lanes 25yrds or so long) is no full metal jacket or steel core bullets and no black powder.
Best time to see the place and to get a membership ($30.00 +$5.00 for a key IIRC) would be on Thursday night when there is trap and skeet shooting. Once you join and have a key you can shoot any time for like $3.00 per person to offset the electric and heating bills and with a few exceptions such as thursday nites and the week of the Washington Co fair.
Yes the range is small, nothing like bullseye or Anthony Arms, and most of the club is geared towards trap and skeet however for a local place to shoot inside it fits my needs.

You could always get lead round nose ammo. Not as common, but it's out there.

I agree however when you consider the yearly membership fees and cost to travel to the other ranges in the area during the winter months it ends up about the same for the range being about 4 miles from my house. Anthony arms is about 45 min to an hour and New Stanton/Youngwood is at least 1 hour with out traffic.
So I look for sales and buy either wwb hp or for my non glock guns I'll just go with lead.

You can use a rifle that is chambered in any normal pistol caliber. Carbines in 9, or 40; rifles in .357 or .44 magnum, for instance are o.k. No .223 though. Be sure to transport it to the range in a bag or a case, though. There is a big sign on the front door cautioning people to either case or conceal all weapons. Reasonable request, I'm sure you'll agree.

I'm a member there, and my understanding is that the indoor range is for matches only.

I'm a member at Logan's Ferry Sportsman's Club on the Plum/New Ken border. It has an indoor range and several outdoor ranges(including rifle and trap). Membership is like $115 for the first year(for initiation and key card fees) and $65 a year after that. Once a member you have 24/7 access to the range(excluding matches) and can use your own ammo.

How far is that from Crafton?

Its monroeville-ish. If i lived in crafton (and I might, come May 1) i'd probably just hit up the state gamelands. Sure it has some weird rules, but i asked the range officer if he minded if i shot my garand, but just shot 3 at a time, and he gave me a wink.

I thought about this club and still kick it around because of how close it is to me.

Their range rules are more restrictive as far as pistol shooting. Absolutely NO drawing from the holster is permitted. I'm not sure about shooting steel targets.

For target shooting and sighting in rifles, it is probably OK.
