Hi all,

I just got my first Glock a little while ago... a G19. I quickly learned that the stock sights (particularly the rear) are pretty bad. While I'm researching new sights, I thought I'd simply try reversing my rear sight so that it's all black, and using a dremel tool to grind down the center area so the white dot on the front sight can be seen in its entirety. Has anyone else done this? If so, how did it turn out? Thanks.

Sight paint?

If you are going to go the trouble to buy the sight tool to reverse the sight, might as well buy some trijicons to slide in there.

That seems like a lot of work for a set of plastic sights.

I'd be more likely to replace them with plain steel set for $40 or night sights $100.

My friend, who is a Glock armorer, offered to turn my rear sight around for me, so I thought I might simply try the dremel thing while it's off.. before I spend any money on new sights.

You don't need to resort to a Dremel to widen that juky chunk of plastic! Also it slides right out with a wood dowel, better if you have a bench vise, tho'. If you're skilled with Dremel's cuttong wheel it's easy to zip two vertical cust down then cut out with an Exacto style knif or razor blade. Best done with sight IN the slide.
Others simply use a fine file to widen, even a cheap one works on the soft poly.
