I am not too keen on spending $400+ on Aimpoint's 3x Magnification product. Are there any companies that have something that would work just as well but a lot cheaper? I was also wondering if there was (and if not, then why not) an add on for the Comp M2 (M3 or whatever they have now) that would screw on utilizing the threads in place for the killflash? I was an Army combat medic and am now in flight school, and I am issued an M4 and would like to purchase something to give me that extra 'reach' in case I go down. Thanks in advance for any information

Honestly I think the aimpoint 3x is a waste. I've had one and quickly sold it. For the price you'd be better off getting a variable power optic.

He's issued.....not an option.
There's a couple other flip-up magnifiers, like made for the Eotech, I'll ask around some guys who know.
Honestly.... i can hit pretty much anything I want out to 300m. While an ACOG would be nice, most engagement distances I'm worried about range from inside the Humvee to across the street, to down about 200m, with most of the time 0-50m being the norm, so I'm comfortable with the Aimpoint, it does what it's supposed to do.
PM AK_Stick, he spent a tour-plus flying around, either him or 16MkVII did as part of a DART team.

I see what you're saying about the ~50-300m shots. I'd just like to have a small enhancement in case it becomes necessary, such as if I go down in a less urban environment and find myself quite out in the open with haj bearing down from the hills. The only reason I've started to consider this is because of an aviator here explaining his story to me involving a similar incident. I figured with a magnification option screwed into the Aimpoint, I'd have that extra comfort being able to be sure that I tacked the guy with a kill shot instead of just hitting him and hoping that it was a good shot. If you do find anything out about a cheaper/smaller alternative, please let me know. Thanks for the info guys
