Spaghetti is still the standard favorite, thin spaghetti if making a white clam sauce.

Angel hair/Vermicelli/Capellini is too small.

For chunky meat sauces I like penne rigate or rigatoni.

For soup, any small shape (orzo, ditalini, etc.), will do.
