Well, since my local Walmarts are all out of my CCI Blazer and Blazer Brass, I was forced to purchase Remington UMC for a decent price (They didn't have but 2 boxes of WWB at the time). I picked up 250 rounds despite what I had heard about it being dirty, I figured WTH, I clean her after each shoot anyway. Well, I never expected what I saw today.

Maybe I have been spoiled by CCI since it was new(only 300 total Rounds, 200-CCI, 100-Remington UMC), but about 25-30 rounds in, I knew this would not end well. I managed to shoot the 100 rounds that I brought with me today and here is what she looked like when I got her home:

Figured I would post these pictures for those that were thinking of buying some Remington UMC in the near future. Shot well, not as well as CCI, and it does dirty up the weapon, along with giving off a weird smell the entire time I was shooting. Good thing I am sending in that order for some CCI online today  Can't wait to fire off the 150 rounds of this left and get that CCI in the mail.

I've found Rem UMC to be reliable, although very dirty with lots of flash. I went to Wal-Mart last week to buy .40 S&W Blazer Brass. The store only had 2 boxes($9.00 and change/50 rounds) and Rem UMC .40 FMJ was over $12.00/50- ridiculous price. It's now Wal-Mart's "high end" ammo. If I was willing to pay that much, I'd order premium Speer Lawman online.
For target ammo, I'll stick with Blazer, Blazer Brass, Fiocchi, or Speer Lawman.

You tell me this now after I just purchased a 250 rnd value pack
of 45 cal at BiMart! The ammo was on sale and I just bought it
for plinking.

I guess that i'll just have to get studious about keeping it
clean. I really don't see a problem if one cleans his pistol
after each range session, which is the right thing to do.

I've shot cases of UMC and I find it to be good stuff. From what I find, only ammo labeled as clean shooting (WinClean, Magtech CleanRange, etc) is noticeably cleaner. I've fired Blazer, too. Also seemed to be good stuff.

FWIW I just shot 200 rounds of Gold Dot to prove out a new G33 and my G26 and both guns were disgusting afterwards. Whatever, they both ate and shot everything just fine.

Maybe it's just the shorter barrels contributing to incomplete powder ignition?

Weird,
I've shot at least 1200 Rds of the UMC 124gr 9mm that comes in Green box of 50 (L9MM2) and sitting on another 700rds. we usually shoot 150-250rds each range visit and my pistol has never been that bad. The UMC magapacks are dirtier even to the touch, but still not really that bad. also shoot WWB and federal. they seem about the same for me, but all are dirtier than the Golden Sabers and Hornady XTP JHP I use for SD.

I've had more gunk in my gun after WWB than UMC. But they're all dirty filthy ammo!

Dunk your barrel and upper reciever in mineral spirits for a few minutes. It won't matter how dirty the ammo is. Why worry, it's a glock.

I don't get it,

Shoot gun, end of day clean the gun.

Shoot gun, end of day clean the gun.

So what's the problem?

I've noticed about equal on my Glock 26. Nothing to really worry about if you give it a good cleaning.

I concur that they will both leave your gun dirty after a couple hundred rounds, but regular cleaning should be performed anyway. With WWB, I noticed more black dust all over the insdes of my G26, with the UMC, there were more flakes of brass to remove from the bottom of the slide, and frame. The UMC recoils a bit less than the WWB, but is dirty to the touch.

I purchased some UMC ammo for about $16.99/100rds at a local Bass Pro Shop. You probably pay more for this ammo because it comes with plastic ammo cases to keep all the bullets lined up as opposed to the WWB which just have all the bullets tossed in a box. Out of 4 boxes of WWB, 2 boxes had only 99rds instead of 100. I guess paying a little more for better quality control could be worth it...

I agree 100%!!!

For plinking ammo and routine range use I buy Blazer Brass, WWB, or Remington UMC (grenn box) depending what's on sale. I don't care if it's dirty, I'm going to clean my gun when I'm done anyway.

lol 100% agree, im gonna clean it anyways after each range session...so im EXPECTING it to be dirty also after 100+ rounds...I just get which ever works right(functionality wise) and NEVER worry about how "dirty" it is.

What? That little bit of residue, and you're done with UMC? My 34's been much dirtier than that shooting WWB, CCI, and Remington ammo.

Go fire 500-750 rounds through a gun at an all-day outdoor match, where the magazines are dropped into dirt and mud, and all that crap migrates up into the gun when you re-use that magazine.

Once you've cleaned small clods of dirt and sand out of the frame of your gun, then come back and complain. I shoot UMC through that gun all the time, and only clean it monthly (every 1,200 rounds or so). It's never cared in the least.

I'll take that UMC off your hands, cheap. :) :)

So what's the problem? Make it even easier:
Buy a Saiga-12.
Perform initial cleaning and lubrication.
Shoot Saiga-12.
Shoot Saiga-12.

(Repeat for 5+ years, thousands of shells, without cleaning, without a single failure).
Gotta love Kalashnikovs, in any caliber, but especially 12-gauge.:hearts:
