anyone beside me hate the bar dot sights that are factory on the P9? I can't stand them. I am used to three-dot or flat black rear and white dot front sighting arrangements. Anyone have different sights installed by Kahr? Thinking about a flat-black Novak rear sight. Any opinions on this? How much does Kahr charge on top of parts for service? Thanks!

I grew to like the bar dot sights just fine and found it just as quick to line up sights (in my opinion) as with my other firearms. I did order a set of Meprolights dots from Kahr having the need of night sights on my PM9 and prefer to have 3 dots sights like my other firearms.

I prefer the XS Big Dots on my everyday carry guns. As I have gotten older I have found that they are faster on targetand easier to see. I can quaifiy 298 with my E9 and Model 60-14 almost everytime.
I like the bar-dots. I dislike three-dot sights. Sig also uses the bar-dot. I guess it's just a matter of taste...

Hate them. Mine will get Meprolights when I get a chance.
I wondered about the bar dot sights when I got my CW9, but once I learned to use them, have come to prefer them. If you are lined up, you will hit the target.
With my eyes getting older, I recently had the XS Big dot night sight installed. (I paid a gunsmith to put a dovecut in the front of the slide.) I love the Big Dot. Dot on top of the line - bang - right on target. Front sight acquisition is very easy. The glow in the dark sights are very easy to acquire in low light.

I hated mine. Never could remember how to get them 'properly' lined up on the target from range-trip to range-trip. (I've never had that problem with 'three-dots').
I praised the day when my front sight sheered off during a range-session. Believe it or not, it actually caused me to shoot better since the "i" configuration was causing me to shoot low... (the absent front sight caused me to raise the gun to the proper level, but I still had trouble with 'windage' sighting).
Long-story-short, I replaced 'em with Meprolight sights (ordered from the factory). Now? I shoot right to point of aim and I can spot my gun in the dark, in a hurry.
Love 'em. They made a good gun even better, IMO. :thumbsup:
*Btw, I refused to let Kahr have my pistol for the time it would take for them to install the sites (serious turn-around-time). Also, mine is an earlier all-metal 'Covert' 40 and they would have replaced it with an 'MK40' - something I didn't want them to do. So, when I got my sights in, I took the gun to a local shop that installed them in about ten minutes for about the same amount of money.
Mepro Sights = ~$60
Install = ~$10 to $15
----------------------
Total = ~$75
Gun I can find esily in the dark & actually hit what I'm aiming at = Priceless. :cool:
Never used the bar-dot configuration. Had Meprolights installed at the factory prior to delivery. I want to think there was about $75 charge for that....Love the sights. Have no trouble switching between them and the factory sights on my Glock....
Why would Kahr have to replace your K40C with a MK40 to fix the sights? By the way, I also have a K40C...I think it's a great gun...I still need trigger work with the Kahr trigger though.
Take the majic out of your desk and blacken out the bar and use the front dot sight only.:)

I have no particular problem with the bar dot sights, but my PM9 shoots about 4 inches low at 15 feet when I line them up correctly.
I'm no expert marksman, but I generally don't shoot 4 inches low (every time) at 15 feet. I've got a 2 inch group, but 4 inchs low.
Anybody else have this problem with a PM9?
I couldn't shoot worth a flip with the Bar/Dot sight with my P9. I ordered a Novak White Dot rear sight. I just returned from shooting with it a little while ago. The difference is night and day. I can actually shoot a decent group near/in the center ring now. If you don't need or want night sights, the Novak White Dot is an economical upgrade.
