I'm a new transplant into the Bay Area. Where are the best places to shoot?

The San Leandro Rifle and Pistol Range is my range of choice. It has both an indoor (pistol and .22 rifle) and outdoor (pistol and rifle) range. On Saturday nights from about 5:00 to 10:00, the outdoor range is closed and we set up the Saturday Night Steel Shoot, which includes drawing from the holster and man-on-man competitions.

There is a range in Richmond with an active roster of competitions, including the GSSF match in late August. http://www.richmondrodandgun.com/

Another popular outdoor range is the Chabot Gun Club. http://www.chabotgunclub.com/

There are several indoor-only ranges, but the only one I've been to is Reed's Indoor Range, which has a competition called the Monday Night Shooting League. http://www.reedsindoorrange.com/

Just got back from Bullseye. People were friendly but good Lord the prices were outrageous. i made the mistake of shooting all the carry ammo i had left after i shot up the target loads i bought and boy did i pay for it. $30 for 20 rounds of gold dot an $30 more for 20 rounds of Hydra-Shok. the range was nice though. its shorter than I'm used to but i hardly ever shoot past 15 yards anyway. very well lit and ventilated. its a bit to far for me to shoot there regularly but ill definitily go back (with my own ammo).

What is it you like to shoot? I assume you like shooting pistols.

For example, Coyote Valley Sporting Clays (www.coyoteclays.com) is a very nice sporting clays place. They also have trap and skeet.

As far as trap, Livermore-Pleasanton Rod and Gun (www.lprg.org) is great for trap and has a newly redone rifle/pistol range.

Anyway, what are you interested in shooting?
