Ostensibly this looks alright, but in unreality just another open door for misuse.

What proper paper work am I supposed to have? When they did the back ground check, I did not get a gold star that says I get to own a gun. I did not get any paper work other than my receipt. I do have my hand gun safety card. Its really getting time to move.

I worked for about 5 years in East Menlo Park right next to East Palo Alto. Some mornings we would pick up the bullets in our parking lot. You can be sure these were not from legal owners. One of our employees had a collection on his bench.

This was and can be a dangerous place even though many law abiding citizens live there. The police have their hands full. I am sure this is aimed at the people with unlawful firearms. If you have your firearm registered with the state of California you should have nothing to worry about.

And by the way, I am an NRA member and supporter of the 2nd ammendment. I also have a son who spent 18 years on the Oakland California police force. That is a tough place to be a cop.

IIRC, East Palo Alto had the highest murder rate per ca-pita a few years back, am I right?I grew up in the Bay Area, Sunnyvale. I have a lot of respect for you and your son. All LEO for that matter. It really sucks that lay abiding citizens have to suffer.

When I was there East PA had the highest per-capita murder rate in the US. They finally brought in a task force of police from other cities and the Highway Patrol to cool things down. Fortunately it is not as bad today.

Sounds like they are trying to get the illegal guns off the street.

It's sad that they have to bribe people to do the right thing.

If they confine the followups to reports of people carrying guns in public places, which is illegal in California, then I don't see anything wrong with it considering the problems in East Palo Alto.
