Anyone have a VLTOR VIS, or a LMT Monolith or one of the Larue complete uppers? Whaddya think of it? I have a lower receiver that needs an upper and I'm thinking of something with an 18 inch barrel.

I dont have any of those, but I would LOVE a VIS. I think thats the sharpest monolith upper out right now, just $$$

I have an LMT MRP

Out of my 9 ARs, it is the finest upper that I have.

VIS would be my first choice as you can use ANY barrel you want.

Would they be able to be easily swapped out or is that a LMT thing?

You simply have to remove the barrel nut to install a new barrel. That is pretty easy to me. I personally do not trust the MRP screws that hold the barrel in and have known them to walk out on a good many shooters.

Out of the options you mentioned, I would give the LaRue a try. it is a good VALUE (not cheap) for what you get.

I built LMT monolith recently with a 10" free-floating handguard, but stayed away fromt he MRP because I don't like depending on proprietary parts that are only available from one company. Even though I am a big fan of LMT:hearts:
