View Full Version : Out door public range/free
I am looking for a free rife/pistol range within 75 miles or so from Ann Arbor. I do alot of traveling for work in that type of radius, and would like to be able to shoot during a lunch break.
Thanks for the help
Rick
I'd be interested to know too, especially since I don't want my second uncle getting light years ahead of me in IDPA.
If I hear of anything up near Howell, I'll let you know.
I have heard there are places on state land set up for such things. I have not done exhaustive research at the State site... thought I could ask here.

From the information I found on the DNR site (http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10366_15383_39011-130873--,00.html), it looks like there might be one in Dansville. Here's the info:
DNR Wildlife Division Shooting Range
Kelly Rd
Dansville

Anybody ever been to this place?
Not classified as a range, but the Pit near Lapeer if free to shoot whatever you wish.
edited to add: Island Lake shooting range is DNR operated between Novi and Brighton off of I-96. Cost is $4 or $5.
Grass Lake. Dude.
Been going there for years.
Better than 20 yrs ago. It was just a parking lot.
Check the DNR site.
FWIW, here's the info cut and pasted from the

I have shot at Dansville quite a bit. It is a four place 100yd range. It is free and unsupervised. It is north of Barnes on Kelly rd. which is just west of Meridian. Go on Kelly north off of Barnes to the top of the hill and the parking area is to the right. It is a short walk over a hill to the range. Please cleanup after yourself so they dont close this place.

I havn't been in about 5 years. Last time I went they had just redone the ranges. I believe there was 25, 50 and 100 yard ranges.
