About 6 weeks ago I stopped in a gunshop I frequent in my travels and saw a P9 factory test-fire. I waffled and when I called the next day, it was sold.

When I stopped again 3 weeks ago I ordered a test-fire P9 and stopped to day to pick it up.

Turned out that instead of a P9 he got in a MK40 covert and a TP9. I picked up the TP9 and fell in love. The perfect mate to my PM9 that I bought used and put about 200+ rounds through with only one stovepipe in the second mag (me limpwristing when I was getting used to it.)

The TP9 LNIB with box, one 7-round mag booklet and 1-year factory warantee was $409 plus tax and transfer.

Incidently, if anyone is interested, the MK40 Covert was $450 and he also had a CW9 (NIB) for $425 and a MK40 Elite for $495. (I'm not sure if the others were test-fires, but know the CW9 is not).

I'll try to get out to do the break-in and will report back.

Question. Is is a MK40 or a K40 Covert? There is no such thing as a MK40 Covert.

The K40 Covert is steel framed like the MK40 . It has the same grip as the MK40, uses the same mags as the MK40, but has the longer 3.5 in barrel of the K40. Also the K40 Covert is a discontinued model and has not been made for a least 4 or 5 years. The K40 Covert was the first step in making a more concealable Kahr. It was dropped after the MK40 was developed.

The MK40 is a current production model and is smaller then the K40 Covert.

As a side note. The P9 Covert and P40 Covert have been dropped from the Kahr website as of the first of the year. However because these are Polymer Framed, any longer slide Polymer Kahr can be cut down and converted to a Polymer Covert.

It is my opinion that Kahr never produced a K9 Covert. No one has given any evidence that one exists.

YMMV

Thanks for the info.

My error then. One pistol was a MK40 Elite, the second was .40 and a covert. You are likely correct that it was a K40 covert.

I have paid little attention to the .40 models since I am more interested in the 9mm pistols. I intended to give a lead here.

What constitutes a factory fired gun if I can ask. I have seen the term before but have not found out what it entails.

Test Fires are guns returned to Kahr for various reasons and refurbished by Kahr. They have a U stamped near the trigger guard and have a one year warranty. They may be guns used for gun writer reviews, demo units from the Shot Show or NRA Convention, etc. or others returned to Kahr for other reasons.

My P40 Covert is a Test Fire. It was my third Kahr. I did have some issues with it and it took 2 trips to Kahr to get it right. Kahr was very good and fixed the problem. Return times varied. On the first trip, it was returned in 2 weeks, 2nd trip took 8 weeks. I did not include a mag on each trip and Kahr returned it each time with a new mag. On the last trip I requested that Night sights be added and I gave them a credit card number to pay for them. I was never charged for the night sights. It has preformed flawlessly since it was made right. I have several thousand rounds through it since then.

YMMV
