Just wondering if anyone else owns a 2.5 inch 686 plus .357???

Mine is starting to get carried more than my G19 as my primary CCW gun. I love it!

Right now I have a cheap Uncle Mikes. I'm getting ready to order a Milt Sparks.

Will more than likely be getting one soon. What do you load yours with?

I was thinking the .357 Gold Dot short barrel load ... or in .38+p the Corbon DPX load.

I just purchased a 686 2.5" Lew Horton new in the box made in 1984 about 4 weeks ago. It's great!!! I have been carrying my 60 almost exclusively. I sometimes carry my S&W bobtail 1911. I have a Les Baer, Premier II with 1.5" guarantee. It's my target gun. I really like it a lot. I ordered my Milt Sparks about 4 weeks ago also. Only, Ha, Ha, only 20 more weeks to wait. I ordered the RMK. I carry the 60 in a Versa Max 2 it really works well. I ordered the RMK because the 686 is a six shot & a lot heavier than the 60. So this will be my only on the belt holster. I have a Versa Max 2 also for the 1911.I shoot the Gold Dot .38+p in the 60. The .357's are pretty heavy. I do plan to carry the .357's in the 686. The recoil is like nill in it compared to the 60 with .357's. Don't know which load I'll carry. Fun is trying them out again. Probably, Gold Dots, or Federal, or Remington Golden Saber's. Sorry, for the long thread. Just get carried away with a subject I like talking about!! Oh, I don't know how to post a picture of the 686. I'll have my son do that for me when he comes over. A 2.5" 686 sounds like a neat gun. I can only imagine from owning a 2.5" model 66 and a couple of 6" 586s that the 2.5" 586 would be like their love child. :hippie:

Smith & Wesson has a 3 inch 686 7 shot that looks pretty good to me.

I just got a 3" 686 7 shot on Friday. Shot @300 rds of .38 and .357. I love it! Today, I ordered Ahrends cocobolo finger groove grips. I also ordered a Desantis thumb break owb holster. With all the pistol shooting I do, I forgot how much fun a revolver was! When I ccw, It's with my Glock 23. But this new revolver may fit the bill also..

I've got one of the 3" 686+'s also. It's a great shooter and looks good too. It had the worst trigger of any S&W I've owned. Very gritty and stacked like pancakes. I shot CLP in it and dry fired it about 700 times. Then I put it in a zip lock and threw a couple ounces of Hoppes #9 in to clean out the CLP. With about 500 live rds. through it now, it's much better. The SA was great from the start.

Someone please show me a good IWB holster for these guns.
