I just got off the telephone with Kahr regarding some broken mag followers.
He knew that I was calling about .40 mags without my having told him.
I was told that they are indeed aware that there is a problem. I was told that their source for the parts had changed the resin used to make the followers.
My three new followers should arrive later this week.
Everyone, please examine your mag followers! Pay special attention to the part that sticks down below the slide lock tab.
See THIS POST (http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=686178) for pictoral information.

Thanks for the post Indy. I'll check mine when I get home. Two of mine are origional to my Kahr 40 Covert, so I know they're OK (they're at least eight years old, maybe more).
But the other two I bought about two or three years ago. Did the rep you spoke to say anything about a time-frame of when they began using the new parts source?

You know, I thought asking about a "time frame when the bad ones were for sale" question, but I forgot.
as I stated above, I have three mags total. One came original with the gun...but I don't know which one it is! The other two I bought from Sportsmans Warehouse.
I bought my CW-40 late in '06 and according to the serial number look-up from the sticky, it was only a month old when I bought it.
Hopefully a broken follower won't cause someone BIG PROBLEMS when its needed most!

The question is- Are they sending different followers? I've been sent plenty but they break just as easy. I've been told the same story about the plastic and have been waiting for the "new" followers since early Sept 06. I'm of the opinion that the resin is not the cause and that the plastic is just too thin at the point where it breaks. I've broken at least a dozen of the followers and they break at the exact same point where the plastic is very thin.

Wonderful news, BarkinDog!
I HOPE it's not a matter of them just pawning off their old stock supplies before sending the new stuff. That ain't good fer business.

Gotta agree with Dog. I have been through a bunch also. Dotty is quick to send new ones, but I really want a solution. This is a carry gun.

Just broke my second one, lasted 20 rounds.I did suggest to Dottie that maybe the engineering dept should look at fabricating the follower from metal, like a 1911 mag.It was worth a try...
Is there any way to tell the difference between a weak follower and a good one by looking at it.
I just placed an order for MK40 5rd mags with Kahr. These will ship out next week.
My K40 mags have all done well over the years, but my MK40 is a new purchase......I guess time will tell with those.

How long have you had these mags or more specifically these followers? Kahr just received the new followers, unless the followers you broke were sent to you as a replacement very recently, odds are these are the old flawed ones. New guns and mags already in stock will have the old followers. I strongly doubt that Kahr is replacing the followers in all their current stock of mags before they go out.
