How good is Blazer Brass?

Is it particularly dirty/clean ? Quality issues?

I used to just buy WWB from Walmart. Between price increases and spotty inventory, I decided to shop online for some alternatives.

I just ordered a case of Blazer Brass 9mm 115 grain JHP from Natchez SS. I got it at $6.99/50, or roughly $140 + shipping. It's now listed at $7.49, so I may have been lucky.

At my Wally World, WWB 9mm is $14.56/100 + tax, so the price is essentially the same.

Natchez has .40 SW Blazer Brass 165 grain JHP for $9.49/50. I think WWB .40 was nearly $20 per 100 rounds at my Walmart, so the BB looks competitive.

I decided to hold off of the .40 until I got some feedback on the BB.

I really wanted to find some 180 grain, but couldn't find any deals. I looked at Ammoman and he didn't have anything as cheap as WWB or BB.

Any info/experience appreciated. If you know of some alternatives with decent deals, please post.

I know someone is going to tell me they reload .40 for $50 per thousand, but that will have to wait for retirement. ;)

Blazer brass is nice and also clean as such compared to wol or even S& B. the blazer aluminum i have shot but not that much. WWB never used though many herelike it I am not a fan that is why I never used it. I love the Lawman and that is what I shoot moslty. I have also used Fiocchi a lot in the past and never an issue. Lawman clean ammo - Wolf after 30 rds my gun is funked out badly.

i have used american eagle but stay away from that too unless i have to..Lawman is still my number 1 choice in target ammo.

So are you considering Blazer Brass because you intend to SAVE the brass to reload when you retire? ;)

I've had excellent results with Blazer ALUMINUM in 9mm (and a couple of other calibers)--but it isn't reloadable.

I've had excellent results with Blazer ALUMINUM in 9mm (and a couple of other calibers)--but it isn't reloadable. The aluminum blazer works fine in my Glocks, but was only 10 cents less per box when I ordered. Now it is 60 cents less, still not significant. Also, I have a Kel-tec Sub2000 and they specifically recommend against using aluminum cased ammo.

I have started saving the brass. Maybe I'll reload it some day. Can I save dirty brass indefinitely and still use it?

More than likely the reloading will come when I after I finally get a 21SF or a 37. I'm still on the fence. I'm pretty sure I know which side of the fence you are on Gary! ;)

You have a good source for Lawman?

I like Blazer (Aluminum or Brass) in both 9mm and .40S&W over any of the Winchester offerings.

You might want to check out your local Wal-Mart, because my WM sells Blazer Brass for less than $9 a box with tax here. It’s pretty hard to beat that price when you factor in s&h.

I'll check next time, but I did get 9mm BB for $7 a box plus shipping. I think I did a little better than $9 + sales tax.

Mostly I wanted to hear what you guys thought of it as far as being decent practice ammo.

It's as good as any other range ammo. My goal is to use the least expensive ammo that is new (not reloaded) and name brand. To me, they're all pretty much the same. I like the brass over the aluminum but only because the brass is only a little more expensive.

Our Walmart here sells the brass in 9mm for $6.97 per 50. I just purchased 4 boxes today, comes out to $1 per 100 cheaper than the WWB.

I just picked up two boxes of .45 Blazer Brass at WM for $10.67. I will be getting a couple boxes every time I stop in now. I did that with WWB 9mm too. I've got plenty of 9mm, so .45 is next.

I can detect no difference whatsoever shooting the brass or aluminum versions of Blazer. I normally buy the aluminum in case quantities but if I happen to need more quickly, I'll buy the brass version from Walmart. Both are both accurate in my guns and function flawlessly. Both are also by far the cleanest burning loads I've shot...at any price.

Blazer, Blazer Brass and WWB are interchangeable for me and my Glock. I go with whatever is least expensive.

WWB is dirtier but I have yet to have a single failure with it in any of my guns, it is often the best deal and is almost always easy to find. I do wish my Walmarts would stock Blazer Brass in 9. They have it in .40 and .45, but not 9.

I suspect that cases stored in a dry environment will "keep" pretty much indefinitely. When left out in the weather, they get all green and funky looking.

Blazer Brass is my favorite practice ammo. Clean and affordable.

I'll second that. My favorite and the cleanest around by far. I have shot tons of the .45 and love it. Everyone I know has switched from WWB to Blazer.

I prefer Blazer Brass over WWB. Seems a little cleaner to me. Though both seem to function just fine.

Blazer Brass when in stock at Wallyworld is a little less expensive too.

Blazer and WWB are good, if you want another affordable alternative to try as well for .40 S&W try Independence ammunition. It's made by the same ammo conglomerate that owns Federal, Speer, etc. I can get a box of 50 for usually a buck cheaper at my local gun store than I can WWB at Wal-Mart. I've shot it quite a few times and never had a problem and it shoots cleaner than WWB.

I'm surprised to see you guys saying BB is clean. After shooting 50-100 rounds in my XD45 it is just plain filthy. It's no cleaner than the bulk reloads that I usually pick up at the gun shows and is still more expensive.

I said it was cleaner than WWB. When I shoot 100 rounds through my Glock 36 it is noticably cleaner to me with BB than WWB. But it is still dirty.
