Hello, this is my first post in this area of the board, though I have read plenty here. Be gentle on the new idiot... or not, it's ok!

I have been considering a Kahr pistol, but I prefer the all metal versions as they seem to have fewer issues. I have been looking at a K9, or MK9 and had been looking for some used, but they seem hard to find, or as much as getting a new one when I do finally find one. Are there any good sources for used Kahr pistols, I have looked on gunbroker and gunsamerica but again they seem high for the most part, or well used. I was hoping for around $400 or less, if it's higher than that I'll just get a new one.

Second question, I was looking at the a metal versions due to higher reliability, but do the larger versions have the same trouble in polymer? I can get the CW9 for ~350 or a little more new it looks like, but I was unsure if I would be better off with the metal version. That said, I think I would prefer the MK9 most of all the versions. Love the size of the MKs.

You have probably answered all these before and I'm sorry for making you rehash this, and I have been reading for a month at least in here so any other pointers would be great. Thanks all!

I only have experience with the K9. If you are looking to get a used one I would advise you to not get one of the earlier versions. I had one of the first 500 built and it was a unreliable.

Nice feel and machining though!

I have read your problems with CS, and it has kind of put me off on Kahr, but I am still looking. You are not the first, I have read this time and again from them so I'm keeping the CS in mind. All companies have CS issues, but these seem worse than average for a firearm company - This kept me from even asking for a while.

I do not mind if it has to go back, that can and will happen with everyone, but I do not want to loose it for a long amount of time. That is my big factor, quick turnaround/solution. Anyone have a M&P 9c to compare to the MK9 or K9?

Don't forget to factor into your max price the cost of shipping it back. Should be around $45.00 to do so....

I bought my used PM9 for 400 and the TP9 factory-fired for 425, so the deals are there if you are willing to wait. I would not expect that you will find a MK9 for that price, however. I generally do research and then work hard to find the pistol I want. It took me about 3 months of looking and waiting to get those deals.

I would think that a reasonable range would be 450-475 for a good deal and most I've seen have been over 500. A new one would still be at least 100-125 above those figures.

If you are interested, get on the Glocktalk for sale forum, as well as the SIGforum and probably The High Road and check 2-3 times a day. They generally go quickly if the prices are good.

I have been watching and looking for a while now, I can get brand new MK9s and K99 for 539, and I have found some test fired PMs for 475 easy enough, but I have never even seen a test fired metal Kahr. I assume they exist though.

I'm patient as can be, you have to be when you have no money so you really think the purchases through. Still just in the information gathering stage, and checking prices. Forums are my friend for info and prices, there is a ton a good info out there. I am registered on all the forums mentioned. Thanks for the reply!

I've been shopping for a MK9 as well and $539 seems like a good price.

May I ask for the name of the shop that quoted this price?

Thanks,

Rob

This link should get you there, click on Kahr on the right. Jerry is his name I believe and he gets great reviews and sells a ton of Sig pistols at Sigforum. I have yet to purchase from him, but will not hesitate after reading Sigforum.
