At the risk of starting another **** storm about manual thumb safeties on Glocks, please only read further if you are interested.... Ken Reed
Just finished putting a Cominolli manual safety in my G21 this weekend. I got it from Brownells at http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=5532&title=MANUAL+SAFETY+KIT+FOR+GLOCK%7e
I was very pleasantly surprised at how well engineered and machined this kit turned out. It is a very clever design, and relatively easy to install if you are a mechanically inclined person.
There is a detent like protrusion on the thumb lever that I filed off, since I didn't want any scaring on the frame itself. There is an internal metal to metal detent, so I'm not quite sure why the external one is even there.
I am used to the manual thumb safety on the 1911, and so this one suits me just fine.
Most of the process of installing the safety is captured in pictures, and they can be seen at my website. http://www.parmarng.org/freeidaho/default.html. On the second screen, select Glock Manual Thumb Safety.
A kydex holster is also in the the works for the G21, and will post more pictures on that project soon. What I had up to Friday of last week is at Holster 6 on the same webpage.

I'm confused. Why buy a Glock if you really wanted a pistol with another manual safety?

Good question.
Even more to the point. Buying a safety and then removing a part of it because of potential marring of the frame?????

I think that is a very kick butt design. However, I don't ever want a safety on my Glock. But, I think you should have one if you want. Safeties are for girls. I am just kidding. Nice gun and nice work.

Anonymous,
The part I ground off becomes ineffective anyway after a few dozen on and off cycles. That fact was used to denigrate the Cominolli safety in another post right here in the Parts section of GT back a couple of weeks ago.
It was a metal point riding on the frame. Quickly the frame would have a groove in it with no detent action at all from that part of the system.
Internally, as shown in the pictures is a more normal detent system, made of metal. I expect it to last as long as other all metal detent systems.

Seriously!!!
Author: Are you afraid of accidentally puling the trigger? I don't get it? I think the term "Safety" makes some people just feel better? And, GOD FORBID you ever actually have to use this weapon in a defensive situation, I really hope you don't forget to deactivate this device.
Good luck with that.

Hey that is a pretty cool set up. I as well as some of the others would never use it BUT for those that would feel better will find this info you provided very useful.Good job.

Steve,
I hope to see you again this year at the Idaho State IDPA Championship. Your chance for a hat-trick. We have some excellent stages dreamed up for this year. I'm the COF wrangler this year, and will be SOing a stage again too.
Besides, it is a great warm-up for the IDPA Nationals. This will be my first time shooting the Nats.
Thanks and take care ! ! !
