Hey, all. I'd like to shoot my 1st IDPA match soon. I have my CHL, a USPc, a single mag pouch, good belt/holster. I'd *like* to shoot it as I carry, which is to say I don't use a vest (I'm a jeans and polo shirt kinda guy). Any recommendations on a cover garment?

Can anyone recommend a range? How much ammo should I bring?

I'm excited to give it a try!

jmg,

Check out Dallas IDPA. They shoot out of Elm Fork Shooting Park in Las Colinas off of Luna Road on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesday evenings. Good bunch of people, shot with them a few times. There is also Cross Timbers IDPA that shoots somewhere in Tarrant County (i.e. Arlington and Ft. Worth). Sorry no links. Good Luck.

Best,
Dave

I shoot mostly USPSA, but do know a lot a folks that have good IDPA matches at the Elm Fork gun club just about every Wednesday & Saturday.
Dallas Action Pistol Shooters (http://www.dallaspistol.com) Directions, calendar, etc on the website.

As to a cover garmet, probably a loose fitting shirt would work as well as a vest. You'll need 3 mag pouches for IDPA. Bring 150 rounds, I think the match is usually between 80-120 rounds.

Just come out and shoot and you will find out what works for you. most people use a Photographers vest or one of the 5.11 or sigtach vest. you will need your pistol, three mags, holster, and mag pouches. Our club is very welcoming to new shooters and becoming very popular in the area. We have some very good shooters in the club that will answer any questions that you may have. Check the website for events and make plans to come out and play.

Hope to see you soon,

Dave
