I recently placed an order directly from the Cor-Bon website. I am not impressed. I requested info on a backlogged item and have yet to receive any response. I would think the website would have items in stock. And if they run our they should know to stock more.

I see a lot of out-of-stock items when it comes to ammunition. Maybe I am looking for the wrong loads.

I like a lighter load than normal people. I prefer the 185gr .45cal and 115gr in 9mm. I know pros and cons but like the lighter loads due to my small frame...

Read an article where LE agenies are having a hard time getting their orders for 45acp and 5.56 fulfilled. And when they do they are paying twice the cost that they used too.

Thank you for the responses. That puts my mind at ease. I wonder if people are getting ready for the 08 election????????

Personally I think they are feeling the effects of a premature Middle East ground invasion but hey....I'm no General.

Well we know a lot of 5.56 is being used in the middle east. I was a little shocked by the 45acp being hard to come by, but did hear that a certain organization had placed an order for a million rounds. The next round to be hard to come by is 40S&W as I had read on another board that a certain organization has placed an order for a million rounds of that as well.

I see guys whining about non military calibers being so high or hard to get. What does the war have to do with 40,45 or 308.

It is actually very simple. They are on very limited or not being manufactured status right now. There are only x many machines and x many people trained to use those machines. The manufactures are working on the contract stuff when it is caught up or completed they will start up on our ammo.

Copper,Zinc, lead prices have all skyrocketed(especially copper), I think that is a big part of the enormous price increases we are seeing.

Back in early 2005 I was talking with a So. Cal. Winchester ammo dealer and firearms instructor. He was mentioning that at that time a lot of the .45ACP hardball ammo was starting to dry up and that it was becoming less expensive to supply quality JHP ammo to LEA's rather than FMJ ammo for range practice. How true this statement was at the time, I couldn't say.

Just the mere fact that with the WOT going on, some types of ammo is becoming harder to come by for the civilian market because the major manufacturers' priorities are to supply the military first and the civilian market second.

In addition to this, raw materials are being gobbled up by the largest country who is starting to become more industrialized; China.

As for Corbon, my guess is that a lot of their loadings like the DPX and PowRBall are becoming more and more popular, so supply & demand is going to be a major problem. Corbon isn't a huge manufacturer like the Big Boys (Win, Rem, Fed, Hornady, Speer/CCI etc.). It's becoming more and more of a "catch as catch can" situation with the most popular types of ammunition. When you see ammo that you want, it would be a good idea to buy what you can when you can because I only see prices going up and availability going down (or staying at a lower availibility level). And who knows what kind of future legislation we may see regarding firearms/ammunition sales/availability after the Virginia Tech incident (especially here in Kommiefornia!).

Now I have a better picture of what is going on in the industry. Thanks for all the useful info.

I still have a problem with them not responding to my e-mails. After all how long does it take to answer a simple question? I buy where I am appreciated as a customer.

I sent one to the e-mail address on the web site and a second/third in response to e-mail about my order. Would you provide me with a correct e-mail address? I just wanted to know if they had any idea as to when my backorder would be available and to increase my order.

Have to add in the cost of gas going up as well, they pass all that along to the customer in the cost of ammo. Well I should say to the dealers then the dealers pass the cost on to use lol.

It's not just ammo, it seems to be everything now. I go to stores to buy things and they are always out of stock on everything.

I like to respond as soon as possible. That will slow up a bit now that my notebook's motherboard crashed on me. I'll be out of town all week next week, so it'll take a while for a response now.

Just curious with all the other brands out there that perform better then Corbon like Rem GS/Speer GD/Win Ranger SXT/Fed HST did you every try any of them? They are available on every gun shop shelf and have a better reputation then Corbon for reliability and controlled expansion,no shipping fee or wait time.

MOHAA MOHAA, I'm not trying to be a butthole and I do appreciate that the initial poster didn't specify that he was looking for specialty ammo beyond the ranges of Rem GS, Speer GD and the others but, I'm not aware that a lot of other brands out perform this DPX ammunition Cor-Bon is marketing. Being the honest, staight foward individual I am, I readily admit that I HAVE NOT TRIED THE DPX yet. However, it does read rather well from users.
