View Full Version : Noob question re: filling clips
First Glock, first visit to the range today.
Range owner suggested that I not completely fill a stock, 10 round clip due to completely compressing the spring.
What's the expert advice around here.
[EDIT]The above reference to magazines as "clips" is the sole responsibility of the uninitiated, uninformed, and uncool gun owner. The range owner's only grievous offense was not immediately correcting said gun owner and, thereby, protecting him from the scorn and derision of online gun forums.[EDIT] :tongueout:

Fill 'em up. Cycling the spring in the magazine (load/unloading) is what wears a spring out. Keeping magazines fully loaded does not.
also if you're just starting out try only putting 5 rounds in your gun... so you don't shoot too fast
You'll be able to cycle the clips through more often, and wont get tired as quickly

Better yet, move back down to a Crossman BB pistol, that way you won't have to show ID to purchase real ammo.
Seriously - tell your "expert" to buzz off.

YEA! Clips are what girls wear in there hair. All BS aside. If your range guy called it a clip, what does he know about spring tension. Sounds like he just wanted to strike up a little "know it all range guy" conversation. Blow him off!
No, I called them "clips".
I may not know the lingo, but I can't stand Janet Reno.
Does that get me out of the penalty box?
