View Full Version : Anyone move from CCW Kel-Tec P-11 to a Kahr?
My Kel-Tec let me down today.
Anyone move from a KT P-11 to a Kahr? What were your thoughts?
Is the PM9 the best candidate to move to?
Pricing?
Anything to stay away from Kahr-wise?
Thanks much in advance!

I did exactly this!
Went from the P-11 (which carried like a DREAM) to a CW-40...which also carries like a dream. A little heavier dream, but still a dream.
You'll find opinions on Kahr as varied as they are about KT. Some folks have all the problems imaginable...others haven't had any.
Me, I had 2/3 of my mag followers break, but had free replacements in a few days.
The CW-40 and the P-45 are the only two Kahrs that I've ever handled or fired so I can't comment on anything else.
The 45 is only a hair larger than the CW (or P) line...so if you're looking for an imminently concealable non 1011/XD/Glock... Might consider it.
I think you're around Indy, right? Several shops around stock them. I bought mine at Bradis down in Camby. Both the Gander stores have some (usually only the P-line, though). I THINK that I've seen some other models at Elmore's.
PM me if you wanna discuss further!

Thanks. Last time I was in Gander in Greenwood, they had NO handguns.
But, I almost went to Bradis today, but had to get back home.
I'll check them out.
Thanks.

I also went from a KelTec P-11 to a Kahr PM9. No functioning problems with the P-11 and no problems with the Kahr. But, like they say you get what you pay for. The KelTec had a horrible trigger pull and would start to "bite" me after a few rounds. The PM9 conceals a little easier than the P-11, but the P-11 is a double stack magazine.

My Kel Tec P11 has been relegated to "only if I think it might get stolen" status. I took it and my Kahr P9 Covert to the range and the trigger on the P9 wins hands down.
The P11 is a great gun for the money and the size and capacity are perfect. The damn trigger is HORRIBLE. I don't mind the heavy pull so much as the length of the reset.

+1 on everything. I'm sure glad I bought my PM9 before reading all of the horror stories. It's been great so far. I just had a hard time shooting my P11 accurately. I still have it, but I haven't shot it in over a year... No functioning problems with it. Just that damned heavy trigger...

Never used a P-11, but bounce between a P-32 and a PM9 depending on whether I want to pocket-carry or use a IWB holster.
Both have been 100% thru approx. 500 rounds.

Everything ipscshooter said +1.

I've been shooting handguns for nearly 40 years and the P-11 I had was the one that helped me develop a flinch. I traded it when I realized that I wasn't confident I could hit Center of Mass at 7 feet.
Mechanically and size-wise it was perfect. I just couldn't shoot the thing.

I also progressed from the P11 (couldn't shoot it well/sent it back 2x for repair) to a Glock 26 (shot great, no problems, too bulky)to the PM 9 (carries well, shoots great, no problems.
