Ipscshooter asked the following in a different thread:
"I'm interested in a P45. I read there were problems when the gun 1st came out.

Were your problems recent and what were they. I am leery, as we all are, of buying if I have to go through a lot of aggravation. Just trying to do my due diligence. All comments and help appreciated. Also curious as to price before tax. I'm interesting in a P45. I read there were problems when the gun 1st came out."

I bought mine as a showroom display model at Gander Mountain. A good many people had been messing with it before I got a hold of it. Both returns were early-on in my ownership

1st return: Failure to lock open after the last round was fired. This problem was consistent with both magazines supplied by the factory. It became evident within the first 50 rounds. However, I kept shooting until I'd passed the 200 round factory-suggested break in period.

2nd return: Light primer strikes in 2 or 3 rounds out of every 50. On this return, I techie called me and asked if I'd mind them replacing the entire slide assembly. End result: I sent it in with a silver slide on it and it came back with a black slide. I like the black slide better. After I got it back, I had to do another 200 round break-in period. There were no problems during break-in. Now, over a thousand rounds later, it hasn't failed once in any way.

Kahr paid for the shipping both times - God bless Dottie!

My Ser. # is SAXXXX. I don't know if it was an early edition or not

Price before tax was $659.00

Nu - thanks for the report!

My guess is that as a display model, it may have suffered some abuse from samplers who were unaware that Kahrs are not supposed to release the slide on an empty mag...

Thanks for the reply.

Also for being considerate of not hijacking the other thread.

Maybe it should have been me to start the new thread. :embarassed:

Curious as to the fix on the 1st return. New mags? New slide stop?

Sounds like there definitely was a slide issue mixed in there also.

I happy to hear they stand by the product and pay for shipping both times. Also that you now have a fine pistol.

I have a P9 COVERT that has not given me any problems.

I'm currently on the fence on either a KP4543 or TP4543. Just trying to get all the info I can before I jump.

Thanks Again. :wavey:

Thats funny because I bought one NIB and put about 550 rounds thru it with no cleaning or lube other than wiping it down with a silicone cloth after it range session and never had a malfunction, FTF, or FTE. It was very accurate with the heavier 230 gr. ammo as supposed to the lighter faster stuff. Hearing what your going through I guess I should have kept it.
