View Full Version : 23 to a 29 ?
I have owned a Glock of every caliber, except a 10mm. My friend has a 29 at his shop, and Im considering swapping my 23 for it. I know ammo will be quite a bit higher, but I had a 30 before and it was a joy to shoot. So Im guessing the 29 will be as well. Im not recoil sensitive, but I am wondering how it compares to a 27\33 in terms of recoil ?
I have only shot a 29 once, but it is the next glock on my list if I ever get the money to get one. I am a 10mm nut. If you get it, talk to Don and we will see if we can arrange a range session. I will bring lots of Doubletap 10mm to shoot.

Why is he wanting to trade down ( IMO ) to the 23? If the gun is in good condition I would do it in a heartbeat! Recoil wont be bad at all, especially with shelf ammo. Most likely firing shelf ammo thru it will be less snappy than your 23.
He's a really good friend of mine, and Im always helping him out at his shop. I used to go work Gun Shows with him. So since I help him, he helps me, I get everything at wholesale, and we are always trading around on something.
Like I said in the PM, I wouldn't trade if I could help it. Hold out if you can and wait till you can buy it outright. The 23 and the 29 although similarly sized, are two different beasts. I have owned and shot a 23 extensively and it is almost what I would consider service sized. The one time I shot a 29, I felt it would be more like a 27, it would be more comfortable to shoot with some Pierce finger extensions. One of these days when I get a 29 ( I will get one, before I get a 20) it will wear some sort of extended floorplates on the magazines.
Maybe I am insensitive?
Have a G33 357Sig and change out barrel to 40 S&W off and on. Same on a G32. Have a G30 and a G20. I guess they are all slightly different but cannot say I notice big difference in the G20, G30 or G29. Bigger G20 of course is little less recoil but my point is the G30, G29, G32 (40S&W) are all quite manageable. Definitely know when I shoot the G33 in 357 but still manageable.
You will like the G29 if you can shoot the other Glocks.
