why 21? What were the ages of those killed?

12 or more were under 21. (I can't find ages for all of them)

Legally you have to be 21 to buy a hangun and/or have get a CCW

Precisely. I want the people that can carry NOW to get first shot at the training.

Interesting. Do they (not) honor <21 license/ccws from other states, then?

I'm not aware of a state that issues a permit under 21. Do you have specific examples? Federal law is 21 to purchase a handgun.

This is BLOWING UP!

We have had 50 people ask in 2 days.

Jack - you should offer a discount... free is a great offer... but you should say smething like this... "the first 100 students/faculty get a free ccw class" Anyone after the 100... get 10-15.00 off with a valid VT ID.

VA does not allow concealed carry permits under age of 21. But you can buy a handgun in a private sale at age 18. Federal law is 21 to purchase a handgun from a licensed firearms dealer. Federal law does not regulate firearms sales between individuals.

There are several states that do issue concealed carry permits to 18 year olds. But I don't believe that VA recognizes their permits for those under age of 21.

This will be somewhat self-regulating as we only have a limited number of slots per class open to give away. That and it's in NoVA as opposed to the VT area of the state. The inital rush will be impressive but in 60 days I bet we only have one or two a class.

After seeing recent threads about price gouging on high cap magazines, this sort of thing reminds me that some people are still decent and honorable.

Thanks for the kind words. I didn't do this for "fame and fortune" but to change the mindset of a few young adults and maybe a few older ones as well. If my donating a few workdays of my time saves one life one day, then I'm content.

That was the first thing I thought when this post went up!

Good Job Jack!

You might get more calls then you think. There are a lot of people from your area down here and they are all headed home for the summer.

We just got a new movie theater here in town. (we needed it badly) Last weekend it opened but only to Va Tech faculty, staff and students, show your I.D. and walk in.

It's good to see people like Jack and others in today's world.

That is fantastic. I know a few people here in Blacksburg that will likely be interested and have already emailed. Thank you very much!!

June class has been filled with VT Students. Simply an amazing response. Working on someplace to do one class this summer down that way.
