View Full Version : Where to buy ammo in California?
My glock 21 is hungry...
Living in California has its limits as where you can buy ammo... there's the walmart/big 5 but I find they're getting expensive.
walmart being $26 + tax per 100 of white box winchester and $18 + tax at big 5 for remmingtons at big 5..
so where do you guys buy?
I'm not a gun nut yet, so reloading is not in the picture yet...
anyone buy online before?
gun shows?
I buy online.

Online all the time.
Natchez has some great deals. That is where I buy 90% of my ammo.
The Big5's around me don't even carry ammo

I go to Big 5. Cuts down the hassle/shipping that comes with buying online. I just picked up a box of 50 Speer Lawman 9mm for $9 yesterday. They usually have one brand at that price every week. Last week when I shot it was the CCI Blazers for $7/50 box.

Look for Blazer Brass at Wallyworld for around $10 and change for 50 rounds of 45 ACP. Its just under $22 for 100 rounds. I prefer BB over WWB because BB seems a little cleaner plus about $4 cheaper. .

What part of the state do you live in? If youre in Nor. Cal. (Sacto), check out River City Guns on Fruitridge, west of the 99 freeway.
I got way hooked up there.
so cal.
thnx for the tip though.

I'll second (third, fourth?) the online companies and will add this one.

They aren't always the best priced per box, however they often make for that and more with their shipping cost, since it ships from Oregon.

You may not be into reloading, but that doesn't mean you shouldent be. 45 is easy easy to reload, brass is cheep, and the payback on the reloading equipment is very short; 3 or 4 thousand rounds depending on how you configure.
I buy online also, it's much cheaper and more selection than anything local.

I second Natchez for quality self defense ammo. I'm not sure about plinking ammo.
Also, Turner's has target ammo on sale now and then. Turner's are all over SoCal.
Big-5 has deals on plinking ammo all the time.
But, basically buying in bulk online is the best deal. Do a google search for ammo and you'll be surprised what you come up with.

im in Socal
i get good reloads from Ammo Bros. in Cerritos CA. they sell .45 acp for $109.99 / 500 rds and it comes in a metal .223 case
or Cal Ammo .45acp - $49.95 / 250rds factory reloads from any Turners
if not Winchester Wb for my G23 @ walmart $22.00/100rds
hope that helps
i dont buy online cus i hate to wait and s/h can be a hassle
Guys Wally World is the cheapest place to buy ammo. If you can get the Blazer Brass there it is even better than WWB. They blow all the online places away "I have been to them all" after you add shipping and most the time even before shipping is added on. This is for practice ammmo.
When you talk about self defense ammo that is a different story.

When you talk about self defense ammo that is a different story. I buy my Ranger T from a local source. But go to the for sale section here on Glocktalk and look for Jerry who sells Ranger T for a great price.
